Default base/enthu 350Z

hello,

i'm in the market for a new base or enthu 350z and I noticed some of you are getting amazing deals on your Zs. What are your trade secrets for getting the prices down? I've been to quite a few dealers and it ranged from a $5000 mark up to a couple hundred off MSRP? Yet I noticed many of you are getting Zs for thousands less than MSRP? Also, I live in So. Cali, does that have a big factor? Please help! Thanks.

Try this..

"If you don't give me the car for $1000 off, I'll just find another dealer who will..it's your choice. If you agree, I'll put down a downpayment right now, and you get a sale today, as well as possible referrals to other people I know who are interested in a Z."

If they say no, walk out, don't turn back, because you WILL find another dealer who will give you it.. but chances are they won't let the business walk out the door.

I'm in the bay area. My wife and I went to Boardwalk this weekend to look at Pathfinders to replace her Jetta. I was talking with the sales guy and I mentioned I had just purchased a new Z about a month ago from another dealer. His comment: "I bet you got a raw deal, were selling them for only $2,000 over MSRP". I just about laughed in his face.
I got mine for MSRP and only ended up paying MSRP because the salesman worked such a good deal to get me out of the last year of the lease on my Toyota. If you look around you should be able to find at least MSRP or a bit under. Have you checked with the guys in the Southern California portion of the forum- I'm sure someone could refer you to a good dealer in your area.

Default wow...2k over MSRP!!?

dang...falisaf3...they said 2k over MSRP??

i've been shopping around for a Z recently and contacted most of the dealers in the area via email (thru nissanusa.com). some were straight off willing to give me 1000 off MSRP in their replies, while others said "ok ok, we'll give you a great deal--MSRP!!" i've been in close contact with stanford nissan and boardwalk (in SF bay area), and it seems like they're willing to cut me a sweet deal, close to invoice.

so for those of you looking to buy Zs in the SF bay area, do not worry...we too can get under-MSRP prices that east coast people have been enjoying for a while! (i hear that Zs go for under invoice on the East these days...dang...)

woogemooge- I bought mine at Stanford on March 23rd- If you are not already working with Pardeep ask to speak with him- tell him Jason referred you- he's a straight shooter and a good guy.

The guys at Boardwalk are shady. The front man we dealt with was a real good guy but their finance manager is another story- He was trying to get my wife to lease a Pathfinder LE at $500/month for 60 months (are you f*ckin kidding me?).

PICKED UP MT BASE Z-LIST 27500 -PAID 25500 APPROX-
500. OVER INVOICE

BOUGHT THE 6 SPEED-I think the auto would have been a better buy.the z is a "tank"at the lower rpms. The car is solid -
handling is superb so far- If you drive the speed limit-no
launching starts-the car seems too heavy. Imho this car was
designed to be driven very high in the rpm band. 60 to 100
it is super but zero to 25 it is too heavy--a lot of noise but
not much linear speed. Taking off in 2nd gear is actually a lot
better feel. This 6spd will take a while to get accustomed to.

for 25 grand it is a neat car---at 35 grand I AM NOT SO sure.

Your conclusion is based on your road tests of the other 4 models, right? BTW, the Z's torque was a major factor, among several other reasons, for my choosing the 5AT. I haven't been disappointed, but I've never driven a 6MT, either.

I got a 350Z touring 5AT (medical reasons). It has everything u can possibly get except for GPS system. I paid $32k out the door (thats with tax, title everything) so if u assume in tax + title work and everything i paid little under $31k. According to nissanusa.com my base MSRP was $33.5k i paid $2500 below MSRP and right around invoice price. (according to consumerreports)

I got my car in Clinton, NC

woogemooge- Performance for $31,206.
MSRP: $30,429
Floor mats, Kick plate, Trunk mat: $237
Destination $540.

I'm telling you ask for Pardeep Walia at Stanford. And mention my name, Jason C.

thanks for the input guys. So it is true that cars in CA are more expensive than other parts of the US? I guess our weather makes up for it

$2000 is ok becuase a local nissan dealer here had a $5000 mark up!!

I've heard of many claims of deals below MSRP but none of them has the car i want! They all say they can find it in a few days, but I've yet to hear back from any of them. Most dealers however are pretty set on selling the cars at MSRP. A few said if I can find a deal under msrp then I should just go for it. Even a owner told me that!

I just want to make sure that the market in So. Cali is the way it is and i'm not being jerked around.

Hopefully i'll be in a Z soon!

HDK- It's all supply and demand. If you lived in Nebraska you could probably pick one up well below MSRP. Still is you look around in SoCal you should be able to find a good deal. Have you checked with some of the dealers outside the LA basin? Maybe up towards Valencia or out toward Santa Barbara (not sure if there are dealers out there).

HDK--if you don't mind a 300 mi. drive, you should buy your car up here in nor cal. i've been talking to dealers out here about an enthusiast model, and they're offering me 1000-1500 under msrp, which comes to <1000 + invoice (since there isn't much room for profit on the enthusiast anyway).

I definitely don't mind the drive, it should be fun actually, but I want to make sure the deal is there. Which dealers have quoted you this price? One dealer down here mentioned a $1000 discount, but they did not have the car I wanted. It's so hard to believe dealers when they don't have the goods to back it up.

Do you have anyone in specific I can contact. I am looking to buy the car ASAP, just waiting to find a price.
