There is nothing wrong with the 350Z's MT. Wanna know why they fail so much?

03 original tranny/oem gear oil here...zero problem, goes through all gears like a wet dream. The strange thing is that it shifts even better in the morning.

FWIW, no issues with mine yet. Though I only have about 1500 miles on it so far too.

wait does your sixth gear always grind..or just a lot? my fifth gear has a couple of times, but i think its cause i shifted faster then i pressed the clutch in. hopefully..eek. so if i grind in the future, i should be prepaired for a new tranny, haha. damn you nissan..ROfL

Bummer cause after reading about the mt6 speed here I told my service rep while getting my oil changed that I was hearing a grinding sound in the rear end & the tranny is a pain in the buTTocks area when cold shifting from 1st to 2nd, I really just wanted him to change the fluid in the tranny & the pumpkin for free. I dropped off the car he said he needed to test the car first thing in the morning when the temp was cold to recreate the problem, about 6 hours later Bill calls & says they are replacing the tranny, flywheel and throwout bearing all under warranty, but........ he will need the car for another day cause installs take time this is on a Thursday. Friday afternoon I am hearing nothing from billl the blue team rep, he tells me they installed the tranny but somehow installed the wrong perssure plate & the car is not shifting he is going to air 1 in from CA. along with a new pressure plate & fly wheel and related components. Needless to say i am more than bent, I am without my Z and its the weekend, he offers me a loaner car and apologizes, guess he feels bad that the dealership is forking our huge bucks in parts, airfreight, labor and the loaner car, well finally Monday in the afternoon Bill calls & my car is finished. So the car runs great the shifting is again firm & crisp, so you guessed it still a pain in the cold mornings shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. Bill tells me that Z's trannies have questionable synchros in 1st & 2nd gear and be patient warm up the car well and life should be sweet agin soon...

Moral of the story..... I had to change the gear juice to 75 weight Royal Purple synthetic also topped off the pumpkin, and just pushed the car hard at 2 differerent track days, now running better than ever. Dealer suX (Melloy Nissan) in Albuquerque, NM sometimes it is best to take some initiative and maybe quit trying to yank the dealer for free fluids, now my numbers don't match anymore
