is ther any other alternatives what so ever, besides spending $300 for an extra?!! How much are they now, exactly? This chip thing inside the key is working against the people and is total BS.. rather have an ordinary one and spend $300 on a good alarm system.
Did you lose your key's too, I lost mine the other day and I have been procrastinating to go to the stealership. I was thinking it would only be like $100!
Try a BMW key...or a Porsche key. A replacement for my old '98 328i (the one with a separate FOB for the keyless) was $190 bucks. I'm trying to piece together a spare key right now for my new (to me) 944. The uncut key was 20 bucks and it's the easy part to find and the cheaper of the two parts. The head will be fun to locate and, based on my previous ownership, will be in the neighborhood of $100. For a key. For a 20 year old car. Without keyless....
hahaha...Scions are known to be cheaper cars...yet, to replace a key is about $200-$300...yup...them immobilizer keys are expensive...and if you lose both your masters, they can't program another one, and you have to change out the computer...they're pretty quick to program, just a few clicks and turns and opens and shuttings...but dealership will charge you for the key, and also they charge for programming the key after they cut it...
