I have a base and didn't miss anything until I started autocrossing. Then I found that the open diff was costing me a lot of time on the track. I now have a Quaife LSD and think it is better for autocrossing than the stock LSD (I have driven other Z's at the track with stock LSD's)

LSD or not, you must respect the throttle on wet roads though. If you are new to RWD and/or HP, I would recommend getting a model with VDC.

Posting that you got nav is retarded (and borderline ricer if you ask me). Who gives a flying **** that you got something on your car that came from the factory? It's like me saying I got Brembos on my Evo.
lol autocross...go to a real track and then come back and talk to me, kid.

Kid... that's real cute. Now you have to throw lame-*** insults at me. I would LOVE to go to a track, but... THERE IS NO TRACK HERE. I'll give you $500 if you find me a track that I can run at.

Better yet, I'd LOVE to see you beat me up/down a mountain.

LOL@kid... I've done more in my life than you'll EVER do or see.

More autocross? I'm sure...

So you admit, you yourself have never been to a real track, so HOW THE $HIT COULD YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT A 50 POUND WEIGHT ADVANTAGE? On a real track, like the ones I've been to so many dozens of times(autocross...lol), 50 pounds means ****.

Never denied not going to a "real track".

When did I say anything about more auto-x? What's wrong with it, anways? Can't handle your car on a tight, 1/2/3 gear course?

Oh, I also drag race, and every 100lbs saved shaves ~1/10 off my E.T. - which again adds up. You should know these things since you track your car so much.

It has the 18 inch rims starting in 06. The base is fine, sometimes it's hard to find an enthusiast with a 6 speed. Or at least it was around SW Ohio.

No LSD is the worst thing about the base, otherwise it's a great option. If you are looking for performance then the base is good but you really need an LSD. I have a performance trim 03 and I love everything about it (no power seats AKA extra weight) but it does have the VDC which I've disabled, haha. So, if you aren't looking for performance ten it won't matter whether you have an LSD or not. If you are going to rac ethe car you'll want an LSD.

Buy a Broadway Mirror. Not only is it tinted, but it's larger and you can get them convex to show blind spots. $20 or so on ebay or options auto salon.

I'm kind of in the same boat. I am leaning towards an 07 Base because I don't give a crap about Nav, Audio controls on the steering wheel, Bluetooth, leather, and all that. But, I would like to have TCS and CC.

Oh, well when you put it that way...it totally makes sense to me. I mean, who WOULDN'T give up features like TCS/VDC, homelink mirror, bigger rims, cruise control, HID lights..etc so they can shave off ONE TWENTIETH of a second off their 1/4th times.

dumbest thread ive ever seen, z owners arguing about which model is better...give me an f-ing break. Its an awesome car no matter which model you get, do you care about auto-x, or tracking it? is it a daily driver? Is navi useful whatsoever? leather? brighter headlights? dude drive any model and just enjoy the car...thats the only part that matters right guys?

You guys know that the Enthusiast is only 7lbs heavier then the Base model right?(3339 vs 3346 curb weight) I dont think thats going to help your 1/4 mile times. Talking about the 07's.

Defintetly go with the Enthusiast model. This is what it has over the Base model, taken right from the Nissan website.

Viscous limited-slip rear differential
Traction Control System
Cruise Control
Auto dimming rear view mirror with HomeLink™ Universal Transceiver
Aluminum pedals
Illuminated steering wheel-mounted audio controls

Traction Control System -turn it off
Cruise Control - never use it
Auto dimming rear view mirror with HomeLink™ Universal Transceiver -really never use it
Aluminum pedals -theyre pedals who cares
Illuminated steering wheel-mounted audio controls
-ok...cool on the audio controls

I do not like the cruise control buttons on only one side of the steering wheel. It looks imbalanced to me. Also, I can not use the cruise control anyways around where I live.

Most of my driving is on twisty roads where the Z is at home and cruise control doesn't help me. Or, I'm zipping around and can't handle a steady speed while driving the Z. It's just too much fun to actually drive the car. If I'm going on really long freeway cruises I take my 4 door sedan with the cushy suspension for comfort and cruise.
