Nothing wrong w/ base, you could get base and install a nice aftermarket LSD The 06+ already comes w/ HID and 18inch rims. And oh the base is lighter than all and you can upgrade only the parts that you want w/ after-market products.

Umm, I guess so?

You can say the standard base Z looks a lot of things, but "cheap" isn't one of them. Yes, it is cheap factually. It doesn't look like it though.

I really miss cruise control. That's about it. I have on-wheel radio controls in my Frontier and I hardly ever use them (iPod).

Everyone says TCS "saves their *** constantly" but they must be driving pretty poorly/recklessly. I've yet to require my *** to be saved, and I drive in a spirited manner usually.

I've got a base, this is my 3rd car I've owned and I've never once used cruise control, but I dont do alot of highway driving. The only thing I wanted from the other models was the LSD,but I can just put in an aftermarket one. Other than that I dont miss it. When I first bought it I thought I made a mistake buying a base model, but now that I think of it I really dont think I missed out on the other upgrades, but occasionally I think about owning a roadster.

Defintetly go with the Enthusiast model. This is what it has over the Base model, taken right from the Nissan website.

I'd love an Enthusiast, but like someone mentioned it's hard to find them with MT here too. The few that I've found within a 50 mile radius are automatic. Although I would love the LSD and stability control....having a manual transmission is the main thing for me. I guess dealers here figure if someone wants manual they'll go for Base so they order all their enthusiasts in AT.....
Speaking of adding options to the base, anyone replaced the stock rearview mirror with the homelink one? I know they sell it at performance nissan, just wondering how hard of an install it could be...

Yes Louis21, I did.

Rather, the previous owner before me did.

The previous guy bought a Base Z with full aero package. Then he separately added the homelink mirror with auto dim, added the alumninum pedals, added the aluminum door strips, and added leather seats.

I added the 18" stockies because the 17" looks like absolute sh&t.

The moment I saw the car I bought it right away without test driving. It's exactly what I wanted: A Base version with all the extra stuffs that I wanted already added.

I think my Base Z is the ONLY ONE with the aforementioned upgrades.

BTW, for the base guy, if you haven't done it, the autodim mirror is WORTH EVERY PENNIES.

I didn't need cruise control because both my previous cars have it and I have used them ONCE. So I know for sure that I can live without cruise control. I didn't want the TCS because I test drove an Enthusiast and redlined it and the traction control kicked in and killed all the fun. I didn't want the POS LSD that comes with the non-Base Z versions. I didn't need VDC and all the electronic bullsh&t.

And I definitely don't care for audio controls.

The only gripe I have is the cupholders suck. Dude, wow, I mean...my god....I'm sorry...we don't even have cupholders, real ones that is!!!!!!!

Anyone who thinks that a 7 pound advantage the base has is worth 18's/vcd/homelink/aluminum pedals/etc is a moron. 7 pounds wont make
$hit for a difference. Don't get a base.

The reason I'm getting a base is because I can't afford a higher end model.

That should be the only excuse for getting one.

I just ordered my Nismo LSD and 3.9 FD and it appears that I'll be able to get both for about the same amount of money as the price difference between the base and enthusiast. Nismo LSD +3.9 fd > VLSD. However I suppose you do get the other nice little gadgest with the enthusiast so if you really need those thats the way to go.

I bought my '07 base specifically with that in mind. I didn't want to pay additional money for options that I was just going to pull out anyway. I would be paying interest over 4-5 years for options that I replaced in the first few months.
