Default I want to drive a 350z Sooooo bad

Hey guys, since the VERY FIRST DAY that the 350z has come out I have wanted one. The first time I ever saw the car was on car and driver when I was 13 or 14(gonna be 18 may 21st). When I say that I love this car I really mean it. I vallet cars at a high end resturant and Ive was sure that I would end up drving a 350z but nope not yet. So I was thinking is it possible to go to a dealership and ask for a test drive? and pretend to want to buy one. I know it sounds mean but I dont know of any friends who have a 350z. So what you guy think should I try and go to a dealership and pretend to want to buy one and test drive it? Im in Ny on longisland, does anyone know of any good nissan dealerships? Thanks guys. Oh and Ive been a member of this forum for a while just never posted till now.

Being only 18 and looking young most dealers would prequalify you right away as a kid with no money in need of a cosigner. Good luck getting them to let you drive the car.

just go to the dealership and ask to test drive one. i just turned 19 and have test driven many 350Z's in CT. most of the salesman tend to be pretty cool guys too. try finding a younger salesman on the floor to increase your chances of driving one. but also be prepared to answer a few questions if you look/dress inappropriately because they way you look, act, dress, and talk does make a huge impression on the saleman. good luck

Used lots are good if you want to test drive. I went to one around here that didn't even ask for an I.D. or anything the salesman tossed me the keys and we went for a spin

Salespeople are pros at figuring out who is buying and who is window shopping. Good luck.

Hah, I remember doing that a couple years ago, when I was younger. Nissan was the most forgiving for a new car.

It's better to actually own a 350z rather than drive it around the block.

What town are you in? I'm in nassau county.

I would go to a used car lot, you'd probably have a better chance with less hassle, or I think Hertz rents them now as part of their "fun" collection. If you don't mind spending the money you could rent one for the day and get to really drive it.

Just go to a dealer and see if they'll let you. I would definitely go with the intentions of buying, so it may help to have a parent with you since you are only 17.

Sorry, but I do not know of any dealerships in NY. Check the regional forums for that kind of info.

ah i see, not too far from me.

Advantage Nissan in Westbury on old country rd seems like a decent dealership near you, or Legend nissan on 25.

If you go with your parents, they'd let you drive it. But like I said, it's better to get it than just drive it once, it'll make you go even more crazy about wanting one.

I'm over 18, well over, and the dealer still wouldn't let me test drive without first running my credit and getting an appraisal on my trade-in. He was all 'smoove about it, too. Talking about, well before we drive lets check your credit...Bastards.

Well, you either A) need to look older than your age B) go dressed well with a really nice watch/pair of shoes C) drive in with a comparably priced vehicle (aka parents car) or D) a combination of the above. Of course if you go in with the attitude of "This is my car and I want to drive it"...they'll be more than happy to oblige.

I remember Suburu was doing that(credit check) to test drive STi, in reaction, I just bought the Z. that makes no sense to me that they need to pull up my credit for a test drive.

Nobody checks my credit until I'm ready to sign the papers. I understand proof of insurance and drivers license but doing a credit check is off limits.
