Default Locked her down

I was giving a customer a ride in my car (scaring the sh@t out of him) today. The last time I looked down I was going 118mph and accelarating. A ford tempo coming the other direction decided she needed a little extra room for turning right, and gained the room by coming in my lane about 75%. I pushed the breaks to the floor (not really, but you get the idea). The Z stopped amazingly quick, and was somewhat easy to control. I dont recommend trying it, but atleast I know the brakes work great at higher speeds. I have a performance, I'd like to see what a track would do. Glad to be alive. Later.

Yeah I have taken the brakes from about 75 mph to a stop ABS fully engaged through a wide sweeper even. Car tracked nicely, thank goodness for ABS. I can modulate brakes really well, first car with ABS. This was at night, through a sweeper, and I was tired (leaving work). I would have not been quick or aware enough to stop within the 5 feet I did of the deer I stopped from trying to brake at the limit without locking up.

Point in case, ABS is a nice thing to have, and the Z brakes really well.

I've only been 100+ a handful of times, and only 120+ a couple of times, but I have gotten on the brakes mildly hard a few times at these speed and it was smooth as butter.

Don't complain unless the speed limit in NC is 120 mph.

Then you would probably want to read THIS .

The track would have only stopped you 5 - 6 feet shorter (out of a total of 330 - 340 feet that it would have taken if you had stopped). Of course if you're hitting a car in that last 5 feet, the Brembo's would have been important. The Brembo's really only become significant if you run on a track or make multiple panic stops on the street!
