Unhappy Scraped the crap out of the front bumper yesterday

Well I am pulling into the gas station, which is higher than the road and the entrence into it is steep. I come pulling in as slowly as possible and what do I hear but bang***scratch** and I just want to throw up. I park it as quickly as possible expecting the worst and come to find out there is no visible damage, only to the underside of the front lip feels very ruff, like it just was scratched. I am not sure if this has happened to anyone else. Havent had the chance to get underneeth and look.

Does anyone know if there is some kind of repair or smoothing that can be done easily and cheeply, rememebering that the damage isnt visible. Just needed to vent a little. Will there been any rusting or other damager later on, I assume not.

Feel free to share your war stories with non-track condition roads.

Man that sucks i had that happen to my 03 touring i was pulling into a sunoco station and i heard that same sound like nails on a chalk board. So at first i was so pissed then i parked my car and ran out like i was ready to give my car CPR lol.But like you said you just feel it underneath no visible damage.I just left it alone it was minor im not too sure if theres anything you can do for a quick fix.I guess it depends how bad the scratches are with my 07 now i dont even attempt going up those steep entrances anymore. I just say **** it ill go to another station.

Sometimes I feel I should mount a camera in the front vs. all the rear cameras people have so that I can be 100% sure I'm not going to hit.

I did this on mine as well. Actually put the car up on jacks and look under the bumper. My bet is that you'll be able to see a tiny scratch or two underneath. It feels rough but is nothing touch up paint won't cure. Does give you a good excuse for a new bumper, though.

You shouldn't worry too much, it happens all the time to everyone. IAs long as it's not visible and didn't crack your bumper you'll be fine. Just be more careful next time. Think of how much worst it is for us, the ones with kits and dropped 1.2 inch....lol

You just have to deal with it. When I first scraped my Bumper, I was like WTF. The feeling inside you is like you lost something very dear. But once you do it a few more times, it's just going to come natural.

Yeah, I've done this multiple times. Mostly driveways, even my own but I was going to fast. Ooops. Never the hit the paint just the black plastic piece. The worst one on my bumper is from taking a fast corner and hitting a dip in the road. Put a nice little scuff in the paint. Can't notice it unless you crouch down and look for it. It sucks but it happens. Almost impossible to avoid.

The underside of my front bumper is all screwed up. You can't see it unless you look at it at ground level though.

I think this happens to most Z owners at one time or another.

You can try some of the custom electronics available. There are electonic units that allow the rear mirror to tilt down when reverse is engaged. If interested try the following link:

Yeah I've scraped the very bottom of my '06 front bumper (not visible), but THEN I was turning from a side road onto a main road where there was apparently a big dip and I friggin turfed the front lower passenger side of my black bumper in the corner of the dip. This one is very visible. I want to get a new lip to cover it up, but then I'll be even more limited as far as dealing with speed bumps and inclines, and I'll probably just end up scratching it up too.

Just leave it alone..it's not visible anyway, and it will happen soon or later again.
I scrape everyday as I drive off my driveway lol (my car's front bumper is 2inches off the ground)

my only advice is to approach anything uneven from a 45 degree angle (like when entering/exiting parking lots) - this helps me not to scrape

You guys think that is bad. If you want a real heart stopping sound, you should take your friend to rent a car in your lowered(pro-kit) Z. the spikes at the entrance scrape against the entire under body of the Z. It gives me chills just thinking about it
