wow, so after the body shop tells me that it will be ready on wednesday, I call them that morning and they tell me that it won't be ready until thursday.

so come thurday I call and they tell me that I can come pick it up anytime. so me and my wife and father go down there to look at it. it looks like everything is all good from the outside so we decide to take it for a test drive before we sign the release. we we get about 1/3 mile down the road and the cel light comes on. well at this point I'm hopin it's something simple like the gas cap loose or something. so I decide to pop the hood to see if we can figure out what the problem is. well in about 3 second my dad says "well there's your problem, there is a crack in the intake plenum".

sure enough there is about a 2-3 inch crack in the plenum. well we tell them we're not signin for till they fix it.

well fast forward to this morning (friday) they take it to the service center. the service center takes all day to get around to looking at it. they run the cel code and surprise surprise there is a vacume leak. well they clear the code and it doesn't come back, so they call me to tell me that the car is "ready for pickup"

so we ask them "wow that was quick, you guys replaced the plenum already".

they're response "why would we have replaced the plenum"?

"uhh maybe because there was a huge crack down the middle of it, I don't know just call me crazy but I don't think that quite right.

so he say's "well we didn't notice any cracks".

how is it that me and my dad who are in no way mechanics can spot whats wrong with it in 2 minutes, yet they have it all day and can't spot it.

long story short they didn't even call the insurance adjuster, so now I have to wait for them to come look at it on monday and they can't even order the parts until monday. so if the insurance company does decide to pay for it, it won't even be until wednesday when they get the damn part.

this waiting is drivin me crazy, and so is there incompetence.

well I finally got the car back today, the intake plenum is still cracked but it runs fine for the time being. I'm in the process of having insurance adjuster come look at it monday as well as buying a new intake plenum from a member of this board. so hopefully I will have everything straight here soon.

I will take pictures of the car tommorrow and put them up tommorrow.

thanks everyone for all the continued support that everyone has shown me.

Hydroplaning might be the cause of that. It can occur at moderate speeds as well.

At least u guys r alright, it must be painful 2 c ur love ride all f..k up though...Rear wheel drive is a lot easier to spin out especially with all that power, what u need is tires with better grip in the rain... Tires are more important in safety/performance than other upgrades, I know lots of people don't think so... better luck next time..

I hate incompetent shops like that! Make sure you tell them that you are not coming back! Might as well upgrade to a better plenum while you're replacing it

when I picked up the car they asked me "your not gonna let us fix the plenum" (after we pointed it out to them). so I told'em nope I'm just gonna fix it my damn self and that they would never see me again.
