My favorite is when people try to race you when there's nowhere to go. I drive a one lane road to and from work every day, always packed with traffic and school busses. Everyone with a muffler or a sticker has to launch from a light, or rev it up in a school zone when they see me. I still don't know what the point of that is. Maybe that's the Asshat Mode that 'deftones' was referring to.

Some people are just stuck in asshat mode 24/7 and you might just so happen upon them in your wanderings. Try not to take everything so personally.
good advice Dr.Phil

just show them who's boss by speeding up so they can't change lanes in front of you and are eventually forced to drop back and take it

Don't sweat it. Most people while in there cars are looking for a way to have fun with them. They might not even really be challenging you just racing around themselves. When I see a nice car and there is some open road, I like to play; even if I know I'm out classed. It's just in some people's blood to race what they brung. Lol !!!

What kills me is when a bike rolls up to me in my Camaro and don't know what I got.

Most of the time on the street it looks like:

At the track:

Not too many bikes can beat a 9 second car. But, there are some. Those races are really good!
Of course, I don't race on the street though.

To me my Z is a sporty economy car that does it all really well for a great price !!!

And I've owned a couple:

Plus a 240, 280ZX and another 300ZXT that I didn't get pictures of. Doh !!!

Oh - I must suck cause I like to show off too.

Damn nice pic Z Driver!

OP, just ignore them happens to me all the time. I tried to warn a TC driver of a cop by flashing my hazards, he thought I wanted to race.

That the real deal now. Pict taken two years ago. The other side of the street is a little less boxy however. That didn't give us the shot with the cars though. ;-(

Back to the topic ..... sorry OP. People just like be proud of what they have I guess. ;-)

Heck, I was proud of my '74 Pinto when I was 15 .... just because I worked for it and it had a sunroof. Lol !!!

Then I sold it for a real car ......

i enjoy the show offs. I wont lie, i will probably only race when i feel threatened. You know what i mean. For ex. i had a guy roll up to me when i was leaving to see a movie with my girlfriend. Got to the light right before the freeway and there was almost a 1/4 flat stretch before the lanes merge. Normally i would have just said what ever, but when i looked over at all his reving and saw him look at me then my g/f, and to top it all off put his arm around his g/f and give me the my s#$t is better than yours look, it was on. I killed him. BMW-- 0 Rx-7-- 1. Import power. I still miss my TT FD3S
