Owned a 911 (and a 914-6) before. Got rid of it because a) poor reliability, something is always needing repair b) the tineist pos thing you can imagine starts at a $1k c) Doesn't matter what it is, as soon as you say Porsche the price goes up. Once, getting upholstry work on the 914, the price dropped almost 200% when I said the seats came out of a vw...

You can say I wasn't rich enough.... Or have better things to spend money on.

Since your screen name is "DK" you have no grounds to complain about your fellow ricers and fast and furious buddies. So hi to Paul Walker for me...

I dont see why people think this car is a benchmark for anything?
I mean yes its a cool car, I just invested in one. But I have never once heard anyone say that they could hang with or almost beat a Z.
Before 07 they were lucky to break 14 sec runs from what I see.
Cool car indeed though. Very well balanced machine. I know with any of my other cars I wouldnt even given a Z the time of day to even think about racing though.

And yet again today I'm coming home from work on the highway , chillin at 75 on a 65 , a freakin VW Jetta or GLI whatever the hell it was comes flying must've been doing at least 90 comes up from right lane next to me , flies by cuts infront then cut infront of another car on the lane to my left and kept going.

I'd like to catch these people at a light like I did this yellow turboed civic once but most of the time they just sneak up and do crap like that in areas where theres no point to even race cause of traffic. Most of the time I try to shrug it off but its like a constant thing LOL. I think they do it cause they see a Z and figure expensive car = old timer behind the wheel , let me go Fu#k with the Z. And when its like they pass by me then they just do the tire screeching or exhaust fart or they launch at every light when infront.

If you ignore it, it will just go away.

I wonder if I'm doing what you described? I sometimes try to keep up with other cars. I was driving to work today and ran into an enthusiastic M5 driver. He took an exit with good pace and I followed him as he accelerated out of it. Fast! It made me smile When he merged onto the freeway, he slowed back down to granny-cruising speed. I didn't want to make it seem like I was trying to race him, so I kept my distance and just strolled along my way.

Sadly, your dream hasn't come true yet, because you're stuck with a mustang.

Just make sure you look for the OEM signals before givin it a go. My simple N/A mods outrun my friend's full E/H/I and tuned 285 rwhp 3,450 lbs 2003 Mustang Mach1 from 40-120 mph.

I agree with the guy who thinks just because we drive a sports car, we're driving like dicks. As if someone has something to prove or has a grudge or something.

I've driven my Z maybe 8 times since I bought it in December. One day I was doing a Cedar Rapids to Iowa City run. On the last leg, its a nice big straight away. I wasnt going too fast, just a skoshe faster than everyone else, but not much. I am in the right hand lane and I see an 18 wheeler in the distance and Im approaching it slowly but steadly. To my left is a Jeep wrangler that decided he had to catch up to me. He did but decided to maintain my same speed with me being a car length ahead. Well, he stays slightly behind me for a while keeping the same speed as I am. So when I realize its getting about time for me to get out that lane to pass the semi, I hit my turn signal to give the Jeep plenty of warning that I'll be coming over.
What does he do? Sure enough, he speeds up to try and block me. Why? I wasnt egging him, or enticing him to a race. I wasnt trying to cut him off, I simply needed over. So I let him pull beside me (plenty of distance to the semi still), I look over directly at him then punch it. Got two car lengths on him, and got over. Still with plenty of space to the semi. So nothing dangerous, he just wanted to be a *****. Like he had something to prove because I was trying to get over in his lane. /shrug

I wasnt racing, or weaving, or reving or anything, just driving and going only slightly above what everyone else was doing. I drive safe, but guys like him try to make it more dangerous for us to do so. Personally I think a powerful car is not always dangerous, sometimes that power can make certain situations safer.

Other times, I just laugh or ignore them and let them do their thing.

Good point it would of been hard cutting over like that in a 4 banger.

I'm just as guilty sometimes. Speeding up to see a beautiful 911 or Viper. I just do it a little more tact.

The best thing to do is ignore the those idiots or just turn off or pull into a gas station or something. No way you want to get caught up in a bunch of BS over who's car is faster.
I just let those idiots take off and show off and I continue to drive normally and don't even look at 'em.
I do agree that it gets a little annoying at times.
