Mine's just "WILLS Z". Does that count? ha

koas1 is right. You just have to appriate it or love it. I dont think you even need to own it. I dont own a corvette but when i see them drive by i go awwwwwwwwwwww pure sex on wheels.

The OP's question could be interpreted one of two ways:

Way #1: By owning a Z are you automatically considered an "enthusiast?" Than answer to that is a decided no.

Way #2: Does the fact of owning and driving the Z have a tendency to make one develop an enthusiasm and attention to the car that is likely to render one an "enthusiast?" The answer to that is probably yes.

I think if you love and appreciate the car by more than its looks you're an enthusiast. You dont need to already know the car and its history from the ground up but if you desire to learn you're an enthusiast. I think thats the easiest way to define "enthusiast"

Alot of people probably buy a 350Z because they like the looks, performance, or image, etc. and know nothing about the heritage of the car, and probably don't even know what a 240Z or a 280ZX is...I wouldn't consider these people 'Z enthusiasts'.

As long as you love what you drive then you can be considered a Z enthusiast

Being a "Z enthusiast" is simple.
You don't HAVE to own the car, mod it, or know every trivial detail about it's history.

A true enthusiast loves a car for all it's strengths AND it's faults.
He or she recognizes the spirit of a unique and distinguished design, the way it works, and ultimately the passion for being behind the wheel of one.

These are all intangible things that makes a car enthusiast. You don't have to own one, and spend tons of money on modifying it.

It just takes some love and respect.

I'm a "350Z" enthusiast, not too intersted in past models myself. I do consider myself an enthusiast, just for the fact that I spend too much time on this site learning all I can about the 350. Enthusiast...Yes!

I don't consider myself a Z enthusiast really. This is my forth Nissan/Datsun vehicle, so if anything I could maybe be a Nissan enthusiast.

I have a Z.
I do not know much about Z history.
I love my Z, and it gets washed every weekend.
I attend Z events, and even set some up.
I have 2,825 posts on my350z.com.

Am I an enthusiast?

Not that I am a Z god to designate people (and by that I mean I am a god), but I would say you are an enthusiast of some sort, yes. If you are involved in Z events (and you are), it means you have a passing interest in some aspect other than the thing in the driveway with a motor and wheels on it.

Owning a Z absolutely does NOT make you a Z enthusiast.

You have to feel the car. It's gotta be an extension of yourself (not just of your dick). You gotta WANT to make it yours. You gotta drive it how it was meant to be driven. You gotta know the history of the Z. There's more to this, but it's a lot more.

There's a lot that goes into being a Z (or any other car) enthusiast. Simply owning one or even modifying it doesn't really mean ****.

Although I recently sold my Z to a good friend for a different car, I've owned several 240's, 260's, 280's including a Jim Cook widebody 280 I built years ago. I'm quite sure I'll own another Z down the road. I consider myself an enthusiast. Anyone that can find a 1970 through 73 240Z in decent cond. reasonably priced should not miss the chance to own one. If I knew then what I know now.

If someone bought it or owned it in the past they are automatically Z enthusiast IMO. I can read about World War II and other wars but it doesnt make me a veteran does it? If you live it and do it you are it period. Actions speak louder then words.

Buying the darn thing = Action = Enthusiast

Knowing about car = historian
