I don't think owning a 350Z necessarily makes you a 'Z Enthusiast'. I think to be a true Z enthusiast you have to have a knowledge and appreciation of the history of the Nissan/ Datsun Z car, and in alot of cases owned some of the older Zs in tha past. Alot of people probably buy a 350Z because they like the looks, performance, or image, etc. and know nothing about the heritage of the car, and probably don't even know what a 240Z or a 280ZX is...I wouldn't consider these people 'Z enthusiasts'.

^ +1 Simply owning one doesn't count, there are too many women cruising around who thought it was a pretty car and had their husbands buy them one (it's a gross generalization i know, but you get the point.) Appreciation of the history of the car is essential though. I for one have never owned a Z. My first car was a 1990 maxima SE and my second was a 1993 240sx. The 240 really made me fall in love with nissan's. It's what prompted me to learn about Datsun/Nissan heritage. I had always been fond of the 300zx until they stopped production. I was in college when the new Z came out and couldn't afford one (but god did i try to make it fit in my budget.) I will finally be in a position to purchase one soon though. So in conclusion, owning a Z does not make you an enthusiast. On the contrary, I don't own one and I'm an enthusiast. It's all about appreciation for history.

i think anyone who appreciate and love the z, or any car in the z family chain would be an enthusiast. one would not have to personally own one to be an enthusiast.. my 2 cents

No cause today, I gave the thumbs up to some girl in a DB Z and some guy with the same car as mine but with stupid chrome rims and they both looked really confused.

If you own an Enthusiast, you are an enthusiast!

The rest of us are just pretenders! LOL!

I would say anyone who owns the car, and is ENTHUSIASTIC about it would be considered one. I think someone into the history of the Z would be a Z historian?

HA!

To most people a "Z" is just the last letter in the alphabet. To me it's a dream come true.

It's more than a car it's more than an icon and it's way more than I will ever understand. But that doesn't keep me from trying

Cheers

so, you're basically saying a chick with cash who knows nothing about the Z is an enthusiast. While the poor joe smo making minimum wage therefore can't afford the z, and knows all about the z's heritage isn't an enthusiast.

Great logic

OK so a lady I know owns a 350Z, and she loves it, but one day she came over and saw my 240Z and she was like "wow, what a cute car.....what is it?" While she's decidedly not a Z "historian", would you consider her a Z "enthusiast"? I say no.

I also agree you don't need to own a Z to be an enthusiast....

Making pointless threads on a Z forum definitely qualifies you for enthusiast status.

The first car I truly owned on my own was a 1991 240SX SE. The year was 1995. When I was shopping for a car it came down to the 240 and a Mustang GT . Wow am I glad I made the right decision. I think if I had chosen that Mustang I wouldn't have the appreciation for well built cars that I do now.

Fast forward a few years and going through a few SUV's, I always said "I'll own another Nissan sports car someday". When I received the first ad on the '03 Z back in 2002 I was still in school and couldn't afford one but told everyone I would get one "someday". Fell in love with it instantly.

So after a couple more years and the SUV finally needed to be replaced, I knew exactly what I wanted and got it.

Am I an enthusiast? Hell I don't know. Do I love my Nissan Z? Hell yea! Do I love everything about it? Not yet but I will when I'm done modding her out the way I want!
