How many of you have redlined your Z?
You bought a Z and are worrying about blowing it up..WTF.. the VQ motor is almost bullitproof. You should sell the Z and by a Honda then who cares if you blow it up. I shift at 7K(raised my rev limiter) and have had zero problems although I did bounce off the limiter shifting to 3rd the other night, but still ran a 12.2...Guess what, its an auto.

Peace!
get an aftermarket exhaust ... redline it ... and i'm sure you'll fall in love with the sound. music to your ears.
trust us, make the Z work hard, and you will feel the adrenaline rush.

i used to worry about taking it to redline too...but then one day i just decided to do it. the car just felt like it was meant to handle it, nothing broke, and i liked it...so from then on ive been hitting redline atleast once everytime i take it out

But I was out a bit ago & ran first & second close to redline, then backed off cuz there was this funky smell in the car... weird smells in the car= bad I would think.. lol

Nahh I've smelt it before to , always when I decide to give my car a little bit of hell, but not redline, I dont want to say its a "gas" smell... maybe oil .. just seems like a oil/metal kinda smell.. I dont know but it's strong...
I have an old E36 3 series and when you redline it, the tachometer jumps all the way to the right and the engine makes a loud noise like it's really pissed off. That's when you know to shift.

, enclosed space and all-out WOT ... I think that it might just be the engine heating up and burning residual humidity and particles out of the headers and exhaust I think... throw in a little oil and there's the smell.I have redlined it ocassionally but not much... a couple times I smelled the same thing.
Solution: redline regularly to avoid build up of things that burn and cause the smell

I do not know if it works or not... but it is fun
And well, I think that it might also help the car to 'understand' its NA mods (if any)... I read somewhere (do not know if this is bs or if it is true, gurus please throw us a bone here) that the car has a built in small range of self-adjusting for changes on intake and exhaust parts, so driving it hard should be like a crash-course on air/fuel relations for the Z
