Boy, you sure are one pompous **** aren't ya?

Just because YOU haven't had a problem with hydroplaning and YOU think you're some "amazing" driver, WE must be ignorant, wreckless idiots.

Wait, my magic 8-ball says you're a douchebag. Nevermind.

You've either been lucky or some of us have been real unlucky. Either way, your comments actually contribute NOTHING to this thread.

Move along and go drive in the rain or something.

Same here, unless its a serious puddle the car will pull obviously. Never had any sliding or loss of control though.

My .02.
I have to ask why not? Granted the car does have a decent amount of power, but hardly the most...decent all seasons or snow tires and it should be fine. Another poster (PDX racer, I believe) mentions ASX's, which are quite good in the wet and snow (my wife has a set on her car). When driving in the wet and snow care and attention to conditions are much more important than the car you are driving.

For example, in the early 90's my best friend had a 500 hp 1975 Corvette with old style Comp T/A's on all four corners. This was his winter car...no windows in the doors, most of the heat was supplied by the huge side pipes. If you pulled away in 2nd or 3rd it was just fine.

Agreed. I had 555 DR's on a past vehicle, don't even try to punch the gas or pass anyone on the freeway in the rain. It feels just as unreliable as summer tires in the snow.

this 350Z characteristic seems to have a lot to do with the stock Potenza RE040s provided. They are strictly summer dry tires it appears, and they are awful at resisting tire feathering from our early gen. crap toe alignments

1. keep the car

2. change the tire type to something more all-season when its rain/winter season in your area

The RE040 tires have a terrible reputation for pretty much everything. The RE050A standard on the 07+ Z is a lot better in terms of hydroplaning resistance, but still not the best out there. They also wear too quickly for the dry traction you get.

The Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 is by far the best wet performance tire out there right now based on comparison tests I've seen in Car & Driver and elsewhere. I've heard them called "rain forest tires" they're so good. They are also great dry pavement tires and have twice the tread life of the RE050A to boot (280 vs 140). My experience with them is fantastic, they're better in the rain than most all-season tires are even though they're a summer tire. Not good for snow though, but no summer tire is.

All season tires aren't necessarily better in the rain (the Eagle F1 GS-D3 beats pretty much everything in that respect) and aren't good enough for serious snow. RWD cars are OK in the snow but you really need dedicated snow tires. But if you want to go that route the RE960AS Pole Position doesn't give up much dry grip and is great in the rain and passable in light snow.

Ignore everyone. Eagle F1's. 275 rear, 255 front, that is basic. You can go 90 mph with those tires. their wet rating is a 6 star almost. get them.

I like the falken 452's. I'm running 245's and they are incredible in the rain.

Usually the better grip on dry road does not work as well in wet conditions...
But these days a lot of company come up w/ tires work excellent in both dry and wet ... You have a lot of choices out there, just go search on line, www.tirerack.com gives u pretty good insight on different brand tires(with review n spec). Don't get snow tires though, that's retarded... If people want to drive in snow they wouldn't get this car in the first place, what's the point? I was stupid enough 2 drive my Z up the mountain 4 years ago, even with chains, my car was sliding like crazy, it even got stuck in the snow... Stupid me...

Anyway, I was reading a favorable review in C&D about these new Goodyear F1 All-Season tires that are coming out in July - you may want to check these out instead of the BFGs...

I have the Eagle Assurance TripleTreds on my G35 Sedan and they are awesome!
