Nearly Crashed! Perhaps even died!
It was a pretty rainy day, but the rain died down considerably and it was just down to sprinkles really. I had just got on 6-10 (was on it for a minute and a half TOPS) going about 65 when I feel the back end go left to right. I immediately let off the gas remembering all those Z horrer stories. I drop down to 60 and I feel it do it again, then it happens!
The d**n thing fishtails! I did a d**n 1440 (four 360's) across 3 lanes of traffic, 4 if you count the emergency lane. Thank God that part of 6-10 also splits off into I-10 because I landed right in the middle of the divider emergency lane area. the front of the Z ended up in a pretty deep whole the was submerged in water. Half of my front rims were covered in water Needless to say I was scared sh**less!
The road was wet so I couldnt reverse out cuz the tires would just spin out. Also, givin props to God again, a guy in a lifted F-250 or F-350 pulled over to help pull out the Z out of the hole. He hooked the chain and yanked it out like nothin haha
The amazing thing was I was completely unharmed, the Z was still in perfect running condition, and there were three 18 wheelers in the three lines I slid across, 1 in each lane, not to mention all the other traffic behind me. Although I have a little scratch underneath the Z from when the front end landed in the water hole. I have a little video that Im going to try to upload to show everyone the predicament I was in.
(Sorry if everyones read this again, and does anyone know how to get the video on here? I tried Youtube but its not letting me upload it)

I feel your pain bro. I had the fishtail thing happen to me in the rain.. it's some scary ****.
But other than blaming the stock potenza's, I have to admit that my tread was very low (3/32").
What does your rear tread look like?

I have Goodyears on the front and Falkens on the back. Both of the rear tires have good tread, but the back left is nearly bald in the middle. But the sides have plenty of tread.
I got on from 6-10 and McCarty heading towards the ship channel and Gulfgate, lost it right before 6-10 splits off to go on I-10 as well. And I just have that little bitty stock spoiler some Z's come with.

Yeah, the d**n tire place didnt inflate it right >0 Im going to replace botht the rear tires soon. What I THINK happened was the brakes locked up and there was absolutely nothing I could do at that point, just slide away looking at the 18 wheelers coming closer and closer as I spun round and round....the scariest thing thats happened to me in my LIFE!
I have 53,000 miles, and am at a complete loss about these types of incidents in the rain. Driving in a straight line, I don't see how it is possible to get the rear to swerve. Maybe one day when it happens to me, I wont be surprised.
BTW how wide are the tires?

Yeah, I do believe it was stock.
I deliver to Fiesta on Mesa, Sellers on Federal, Fiesta off 10,
and Kroger off 10...(Blue Bell)
Have you driven down Maxey?
There's a small shop with about 3 totaled Z's.
Looks like they are going to Frankenstein them.

Ok...there's so much wrong with this it's not even funny.
First, you have a RWD car with minimal computer assistance in terms of traction. You don't drive 60+ when the roads are wet from freshly fallen rain.
Second, having two different types of tires between front and back is never a good idea.
Third, you have uneven tire wear in the rear and did nothing about it? Even on my FWD Maxima, when I noticed one of my tires wore uneven, I threw it out and bought a new one.
You're lucky to be alive, friend. But at the same time, this accident was your own fault. Order a matching set of tires, and take it easy on wet roads. Even I keep my speed around 45MPH, and my tires are practically brand new with 9/32.

I agree, thank God you are OK, that had to be the scariest feeling. I spun my z out on an invisible patch of ice on some wet pavement going around a curve at 60. Tail went left, then right, the left for 2 360's. I ended up nailing a curb, but also thankful I didn't end up in oncoming traffic. $1400 total damage, not bad for what could have happened, and I got a whole new set of tires included in that, so not bad.
With what happened to you I would say you've got some angels covering your back.

Or it could just be luck. And if these angels were watching... why did he go out of control in the first place?
