test drove a Z, why does the shifter vibrate this much>??
I agree the shifter does vibrate...... but trust me, you never notice. You'll get over it in 2 seconds. And the inside being cheap, well ive had the car for 6 months, and my mind kept changing. But then i looked at some other cars. This is one of the coolest interiors, though its quality could be higher. Check out Porsches 911, and Boxter from before 2001. Yucccccck, all of them plastic junk inside. The new ones look slightly better but stil nothing to outrageous, and its $50k or so for the boxter and $90k or so for the 911!!! I think ours is one hell of a bargain, and it looks great. I only get compliments of the interior! Just trying ot put it in perspective.....
god damn guys. Quit hitting on the guy so much. He gave a honest opinion about the Z. The Z is a great car, but obviously it is probably not for him. He in no way 'dissed' any of your cars. Jaxx if I were you I would definately look into a Bmw 3 coupe. Those things have good power and they handle great. I would also look into the new rx8 that is coming out. Goodluck finding your car
its funny how nobody could listen to someones opinion unless its nothing but good thing about the car, but yea I knew that there some that really get offensive about thier cars.
Theres plenty that I liked about the Z but like any other cars theres some that I didnt.

dude, you show me 1 car on the planet that you can get 287hp, Brembo brakes, front and rear strut tower bars (standard) front and rear stabalizer bars (standard), a 6 speed tranny, 18" light wt (for the track) or 18" wheels, HIDs (standard), for well under 40K??? tell me?? better yet, don't waist your time, you won't find it!!
sounds like you need a G35c, the Z sounds a little to raw and sporty for you, leave the Z for someone who LOVEs it.

My mom and dad's money comment was cheap...but I imagine correct, so I do apologize for that. It's just hard to take people's opinion that aren't spending their own money/probably don't have a lot of experience with cars. It's not a jealousy thing, I have the car I want
The 350Z is a awesome car, but come on guys, so is the G35C! They are sister cars. They have the same power, with the Z having just a few more ponies. They dynoed a G35C and it got 242HP and they dynoed a 350Z and it got 245HP.
The best 0 to 60 in a G35c is 5.5 secs with a 14.2 sec 1/4 mile time at 100 MPG. This is about .1 secs slower than the fastest 350Z times. The G35C has a better sounding exhaust note to some. Both cars are awesome in person, with the G35C having a better looking rear end and the 350Z having a better looking front end.
The G35C is a much bigger car than the smallish 350Z. Interior space is grand in the G35C. The G35c does not feel heavy and big as the posted curb weights say. Also in a 6 speed G35C you GET the brembos and 18 inch rims, which you can not get in any 350Z except for the track model.
Any car with brembo brakes, 18 inch rims and michelin pilot sports is a sports car!. The G35c is a 2+2 350Z track model with leather seats. Whatever you do get the DVD navigation if you got 350Z or G35C.
Also the 350Z can be had in a convertible form with is awesome. Hopefully there will be a convertible G35 hardtop coupe!
The shiftter buzzyniess in a 350Z will go away ever about 3000 miles. My G35C had no buzzyniess at anytime. The car is smooth!
The 350Z\G35C rule! Once the convertibles come out and if infiniti can make a G45...it will be all over.

just had to add that imo the z has more space for the 2 occupants than the G.
I'm 6'3 250. The G was tight. My head rubbed the roofline. The Z I have 3"inches (perfect for a helmet eh!).
Another thing, the G has a sedans interior while the Z has a unique sports car interior.
The G looks great - no doubt, but it can get mixed up with the other "great looking" cars out there. The Z - with iits flared fenders is *unmistakably* a Z - no less a real sports car.
The G is a great car for sure, but its not about no limits...it represents - compromise. More practical yes! But still a compormise.

I also had issues with the headroom in the G35c as well at 6'0".
The G35c and the 350z both have nice looking front ends but once you look at the rear end the 350z wins hands down ... the G35c has the look of a sedan not a sporty car.
The 350z also has much nicer lines IMHO
It was an interesting choice for me, I examined the G35c and the 350z on paper for almost a month while I waited to see/drive them in person. The G35c edged out the 350z on paper because it provided something the 350z could not ... a merging of the sports/luxury package and a sun roof. I had decided before I went looking that I would not be getting a car without a sun roof. At this point the 350z was something I was going to drive merely for the pleasure of being able to drive it before I purchased my G35c
The interior of the G35c is nicer than that of the 350z but the exterior of the 350z is nicer that the G35c.
Then I drove them. I drove the G35c first followed by the 350z and that was all it took ... thoughts of my sunroof requirement, interior luxury, and the ability to accomodate more than two people vanished.
My advice ... see them, sit in them and drive them before making your decision.

Kevin Akey

Like kakey I checked them both out and test drove both. Looked at p[ictures and the cars for a lon time too. The G35 has a more refined ride and look and the 2+2 seating. However, in the end, I decided that what I wanted was the Zs look and ride. Its personal. You can't loose with either one.
My shifter doesn't vibrate, do think there's something wrong.

I have taken into consideration that there could be something wrong with the shifter.. I mean I dont mind it at all. Just like I said I have driven a a supra and a Honda with shoft shifters and polyurethane bushings and it wasnt even half as bad.
Its probbaly the car, its a demo vehicle. Theres a good chance that other Z's shifters arent that bad.
I'm going to take a look at a G35 coupe soon and I think I can make a more accurate decision then. Who knows I might end up with a Z. A dealer right now is offering $1500 off a touring Z. Ecery Infiniti dealer so far is only doing MSRP no less.

Actually I think the G35c's interior is WORSE than the Z's. We looked at one and it fails to do what it was designed to be, a LUXURY interior. Compared to say an Audi interior the G35c sucks, looks cheap and bland...
On the other hand the Z's interior does exactly what it was designed to do, be a sporty interior. Yeah quality of materials could be better (the arm rests on the door panels are the most glaring...) But it fit's the image of the sports car and looks good and stays out of the way...
