Financially, it is probably better to buy used unless you plan to keep the car a long time. Then I'd recommend a new car. They are less risky, especially if in the used sports car category. They may have been driven too hard.

However, a used automatic would reduce the 'hard use' risk. Before I get flamed, I'm not saying AT drivers are more conservative, I'm saying that conservative drivers are much more likely to have bought automatics.

IMO, the most important difference between the same trims of '03-'05 is mileage. The '06 received the updated interior, bi-xenons and led lights, bigger brakes and I think some minor tranny changes. The Rev-up engine is a non factor as you are buying an automatic which don't have them.

You seem inclined toward the '07s. A few bucks extra will go a long ways if you plan on keeping the car for more than just a few years. Just some more opinions to add to the dilemma.

get an 06 if you're trying to save money or just get an 07. 06 has a bunch of improvements and since you're getting an A/T you wont have to worry about oil consumption or deal with the "torqueless" revup. I'm sure you get one with very few miles for a whole lot less than a brand new car. Remember, cars take the biggest hit in depreciation the first year.

I willl say the Torqueless REV-UP with a MREV kit is a TORQUE Monster.

I would DEFINITELY go new. Usually get better financing, but the HUGE issue is the warranty. I got a new 04.5 Roadster and as much as I love it, she has been a high maintenance vehicle. Not bad with a warranty, but if I had bought used I would have paid many times over the difference in price on uncovered repairs.(Window regulators, Control Arm, Top Replaced, Both Rear Bearings, Sealer around A Pillar, CD Player Replaced, Tire Feathering Issue, and probably a few others I am forgetting, but NOW the window motors are acting up - but I am outside of warranty)

All the other stuff got replaced for free, but DANG. Don't get me wrong I love the car, but if I had to pay out of pocket for all that crap I would have driven it off a cliff. GO NEW!

Plus the 07 has a much smoother engine at the high revs, and I hear the transmission is vastly improved as well. My next move was to get a TT kit, but I think I will upgrade to an 07 before I drop the money on a TT kit and get a car I will want to keep longer term.

Go with new if you are planning on keeping the car for a while. That way you have the warranty and can slowly build the Z you want. Used, if you are planning on keeping it for 3 years or less. Saves you money and can get the mods faster to enjoy the car even more while you have it. No matter what you decide NEW/ USED/ YEAR /WARRANTY / NO WARRANTY ... You will enjoy every time you hear that engine rev up!!

OH, do yourself and all your friends and family just one thing.....GET A 6 SPEED!!!!!!!!!!!!! They all will thank you and so will the Z!!!!!!!!

i have decided to get an MT. i drove the AT and now very curious to get in that MT! boy does that baby have power! i need to practice on my MT skills. i was never taught up until 2 weeks ago for about 7mins.

Good choice on the 6mt. Once you get the hang of the manual you can use just the odd gears or even gears to keep from getting sick of shifting. If I am not in the racing mood I just use 1st, 3rd, 5th. Or for those roll thru stop signs 2nd, 4th, 6th. The 07 is has enough torque it works very well. And it helps make back my mileage from cutting cookies and out running mustangs. BTW has anyone raced a new GT with a stock 07 yet?

6MT or 5AT Who cares! As soon as the nitrous comes on it doesn't matter! It's what you prefer. The 06 5AT has not had alot of problems like 90% of the 6MT(03-06) have had(oil consumption, tranny, the list goes on....) It's your 30k drive both and decide what your willing to deal with as far as problems later down the road or what mods you want to do also. Either way you will enjoy the Z!

you will like the manual better. it definitley puts you more in sync with the vehicle and the overall 'sports-car' experience. No reason to get auto unless you live where traffic is insane and if traffic is that bad, whats the poin of having a sports car spending all your time in traffic, or unless you're really old and can't handle the 'physical' aspect of a manual.

07 6MT FTW - newer is always better! if you can afford it that is.
