So most dealerships tell you to fill up with regular rather than premium?

I just filled up my Z with regular for the first time, take it I don't drive the vehicle hard. I shouldn't have any problems until I need to fill up again.

But when I need to fill up again, I'll end up putting premium. I got my car saturday and since it's a sports car and I am paying for it. Then it is the right course of action. I use to have an Acura Legend and that required me to put Premium, but I never did and I drove that sucker hard. My folks both have Mercedes and they need to put premium, but they don't. So far no problems. I'd say if the car says put premium only then it is the right course of action, but honestly it's up to you the driver. If you don't have the money, then go ahead and put regular.

Actually i run 91 in mine, i'm just laying the facts out and no out compression is not so high that it will detonate from it , its cause by an aggresive ignition. If we were to that point there would be no way in hell to go FI without race fuel only. Very , very few cars on the road are set up that way, Mostly exotics.

I bought mine for $19K

But don't worry next time I fill up I will be going back to premium. As I ALREADY state above, if you read, It is the RIGHT course of ACTION!

Because they can , and of course some people couldnt care anything about performance. If my car was only being drivin to and from work and never driven hard, i would probably run 89 in it.

I don't drive my Z hard, mainly cuz I am paranoid about police being around the corner

Who buys a Z completely ignoring performance?

Even if I always drove it...if I just drove it to work...if it was just my weekend warrior...if I only took it out of the garage a couple times a month, I would ALWAYS have 91 in it. Its not very complicated. Manual says 91, common sense says 91. 91 goes in the car.

I had some dumb kid put 87 in my Z a few weeks ago (pumping your own gas is against the law FTMFL). I almost lost it, I was so pissed.

Nah, 3 is a bit presumptuous but 2 isn't. Just because you buy something at a place that sells neon underbody lights doesn't make everything there crap.

Either way, I just put that in there as a maximum....to show that even THEN does it still make sense to pay for 91+.
