thats why i have a routine. i get completely in and let the door close, then start the car.

 

Its has happened quite a few times, so that's why I hold the door till I get completely out, and take my hand off, and closes by itself after.

This is a problem you don't have to worry about if you have the optional gull wing doors. However, if there is a malfunction of the hydraulic lifters on the gull wings you could wind up with a concussion. I hear they are messy if you have to open them in the rain.

 

You probally have the special edition Z, which came w/ the auto door close optional... lol

 

Too funny, def. hate this "feature". What sucks is, as I sit down in my Z and try to get my leg in real quick so it doesn't get hit, I scuff my Nismo side with my black shoes!

Also, know this osunds crazy but...this girl got in my car once and didn't slam the door hard (how suprising that is) and the door never shut all the way. Well, something mechanical was trying to shut it so I didn't drive with it barely latched. Anyone ever expecience this, only happend one time!

I get the same thing. I don't even really think about it anymore, but sometimes it surprises me when I'm arranging groceries or something. BOOM

yeh i got the same thing with my 03. but learned to live with it... theres a certain amount that you have to open it for it to stay open and not shut on its own

 

yup, i have this problem too...i leaned across to get something off the passenger side floor and the ***** closed on my leg...has happened a couple other times too, but i look out for it now.

 

i know this thread is 6 years old but hey the issue is still present and hasn't been resolved.
Has anyone ever attempted modification of the oem check straps or know of an aftermarket replacement part that would/could eliminate the cars' attempts to amputate our legs?
If anyone has a pair they'd sell me, i'd love to pick up an affordable pair of check straps and try to mill down the catches to see if they'll hold better.

 

I got this issue with my 05. Its kinda cool especially when i'm in a hurry. I'm on that bruce wayne ****.

This happens with my passenger door only. My driver's side door is pretty good and usually stays open.
