Default Nissan is looking for 3 High mileage Z's!

One of my contacts at Regal Nissan has informed me several days ago that Nissan of North America is looking for 3 350Z's with at least 130k miles on them to pull the power train (engine, transmission & drive shaft) for research to check how well they have held up overtime. They will also be replacing the drive train on the select vehicles free of charge to the owner. The vehicle must have stock drivetrain, preferrable be a manual transmission (but not a must), and have a least 130k miles on the odometer. From what I was just told yesterday Nissan has found one Z in California, and needs two more. So if any of you out there know of anyone or has a Z to fit the build let me know or contact your local Nissan Dealer.

Default Oil consumption

Antennahead,

For those of you that are having oil consumption issues should have no problem with have your local Nissan dealership addressing that. It is a know problem with the VQ35 motors especially when you do a lot of high revving. These motors will burn some oil through blow by. I had the same issue with my last G35, and Infiniti did several test and determined that was the problem and then ordered a new short block for my car. I am a Auto Broker here in Atlanta specializing in Nissan and Infiniti cars, and hear of this issue quite often. Although, I have learned that Nissan dealers are'nt quite as helpfull with taking care of the problem as Infiniti dealers are.

Good luck,

Lawrence

So the new short block fixed your issue?

I don't think there are many with 130k on it. A 2003 model with 30K a year would be 150k... but thats a lot of driving.

I dont think this is real, just my opinion. Nissan is allowing transmition and engine swap under warrenty for high milage Z's starting recently, and I think your dealer is just trying to round up some high profitable work for their shop. There are several occasions right now that people have gotten new engines and transmition free of charge to owner, but the dealership made mad money. It is i guess a win win situation. but dealerships lie so they tried to spin it like a positive way w/o sounding gready.

Thanks. The dealership has been very good to me about this so far. I just recently logged my case with NNA. The test will be to see if NNA takes care of me on this.

My 03 just turned to 40k. Guess I wont be getting any free drivetrain. 130k is quite a lot of driving each year, but Im sure there are some out there pushing 100k+

Agree. It does not pass the sniff test. Nissan Corporation destroys new cars to test safety. Nissan certainly has the money to buy several used 350Zs for testing.

I agree that it doesn't sound right. Why would Nissan do that and put themselves for potential lawsuits. Nissan can just buy used Z.

When someone actually makes a deal with Nissan to provide a "test vehicle" and drives away a week or so later with a new drive train, y'll be sure to report it back here to us.

Until then, its just an internet myth, in my book.

yeah, it would be pretty cool if it was real though!

I am almost at 106k so I'm not really close to the 130k. I'm not sure if I should be happy or sad about that at this point haha

I would be shocked if they could find three out there that did not have at least one of those items replaced.
