They did side impact, but not offset yet. See page for details.

I believe the Insurance Institue for Highway Saftey is the one that does the offset crash testing. I don't believe that it is part of the government rating. Their site is www.hwysafety.org . It doesn't look like they've tested the Z yet.

I believe the rates are based primarily on the number and value of claims made by 350Z owners.

Whoa....that is so intense...hope I never experience that first hand!

However, my car insurance is really cheap. My boyfriend did some research and we went with a dual coverage on both our cars (my Z and his 2003 Mitsu Eclipse GTS) with Wawanesa for $1300/year with the full coverage and a $500 deductible.

It works out that his car is actually the more expensive one...?!

Dunno...but we are very happy with them. =)


(I'm 31 and he is 27 - so age may play in his part be higher)

Great results for the Z! I'm assuming the two tests were done with a track and side impact and curtains as well. I'm impressed with Nissan so far.... the z's a classic in the making

Notice the door dosent pop out like most cars do, that obviously shows that the z displaces forces appropriately throught the car!
