Default High-pitched electrical sound from rear?

Has anyone else noticed this? It's like the sound you hear when you turn the TV on (very high-pitched), and seems to be coming from the rear-right side.

Maybe I have overly-sensative hearing, but this sound is driving me nuts!

I have not heard the sound that you describe, usually because I'm listening to music pretty loud or Im concentrating on the purr of the engine. Did you have any idea what it could be?

BTW, where are you at in Seattle?

I've heard it too. I think it's the fuel pump.

Tons of us hear this, if you search a little you'll probably find some threads about it. It comes and goes, or at least my noticing it comes and goes. I'm sure it's just the fuel pump.

fuel pump vote here,

I thougt it was an exhuast leak at first.

My last two nissan's made the exact same noise, it drove me crazy till I crawled under the cars to see what the story was.

Default I got used to it!

It comes and goes! Mostly when the fuel tank is full, I can hear it more, when it gets down to half a tank, it's totally gone. So I guess it is the fuel pump.

I have very sensitive ears too, so every rattle and click or buzz will get noticed. Turning up the radio a notch will help...just go enjoy and drive...

It's the fuel tank. Not as noticeable as on some other cars, eg. BMWs.

Thanks for the responses, everyone. I figured it was the feul pump, in which case there's not much that can be done about it. Fortunately, my sensativity to it has been drastically decreased since I got the car; I, too, have become much more interested in the wonderful engine sounds!

JeffR, I recently moved to San Diego from Seattle (where I lived in Redmond). Are you a Microsoftee?

Peace,
Andre
