....and PS, the car's trip computer can be manipulated to show anything. Just reset it on the top of a long hill, and coast a few miles, it’ll show over 65MPG. Some guy did it and posted a pic here a few years back. I’ll try to find it.
This is about my experience too. Only on one tank I was able to get 29.9mpg with A/C on flat bumpy road. So, I know one day, I'll hit that 30mpg target on a long road trip. However, generally when I cruise this way I'm in a different car.

The Z is best suited for tight winding roads where the mpg is closer to 23mpg.

Those MPG achievements over a short stretch of road are really kind of worthless. Average on a full tank or even over a month or so are much more
representative. With that said, I got 27.9 over 200 miles from the Midwest Regional back to Columbus, through a fair amount of heavy traffic on the highway. And our caravan busted 85 for a few stretches. Another fun trick - set the computer to Distance to Empty and watch the number actually go up depending on driving conditions.

30+ mpg is easy with an avg. speed of over 60 mph. You wanna impress me... show me over 30 mpg with an average speed of less than 50 mph. My average speed for a tank of gas is usually less than 20 mph and my mileage is usually around 15 mpg.

I've read that the optimum economical speed for a Z was around 58mph, naturally in their highest gear. Maybe with this tread we will find out. There are very few places in my state where 65 is not legally speeding. Of course few people drive at the posted speed.

I experimented with various speeds, and found that I get my best MPG at 58 MPH.

mpg gauge is worthless... show us your odometer, receipt from the gas station after a fillup and the math!

So should I start a 40mpg thread ??? I don't think this gauge is very accurate, but hey I set cruise control both times and this was the result. I reset the gauge multiple times each time and still got about the same result within .5-1mpg difference. Both pics In 6th gear!!

This thread is getting lame fast.

If any of you think that you can get significantly more than 30-32 MPG over the course of a full tank of gas, you are deluding yourselves.

Resetting your trip computer, coasting, and then taking a picture of it is not fooling anyone.

i have never broken 24mpg from a full tank of gas to empty, and that basically was all highway too.

Since last fill up 2 weeks ago:
11.2 mpg.
16 mph avg.

So far, I'm not really impressed with the Z's mpg.

Should the documentation be notarised?

I feel your pain. The best i've managed since the tune was ~28mpg.

Oh well, I didn't buy it for the gas mileage anyway.

Okay No one is trying to fool anyone. Its all just fun. Some of you people on these threads take things so seriously. If you don't like the thread than don't post. And no im not deluding myself by thinking the Z gets hybrid status Gas mileage, or ever will, I never bought the car for mileage, I bought it to have fun with and because it was a sweet car!! And yes I did reset the computer as I mentioned in my post. any way just my opinion.

19 inch wheels with lots of inertia and wide tires makes for lousy gas mileage.
