Default And the Z get further from me...

Well I was on my way to getting a Z and boom the ability gets snatched away quicker than anything.

Had about 60% of what I wanted saved 9k and boom its gone.

Job got killed I dont know how much longer my SUV can hold out :/

Funny thing is, I am being replaced by someone that is making more money

They want me to stick around for a few weeks to train him, lol not likely.

Insurence companies FTL...

sounds like you should be charging a flat rate to do the final 3 weeks. Lets say, 30% over your current NET pay, and if that doesnt sound reasonable maybe the back end of your *** will be better appealing. Cook Sookin Crooks.

Yeah, if it wasn’t the fact I need 1 more paycheck I would be gone this Friday.

Mainly one more paycheck (I would prefer two more, but I want out now) as I don’t want to dent my savings that hard (2600 CC bill).

Funny thing is my boss insulted me, and then told me I did a great job and he got no complaints and will write me a glowing recommendation, then says I can stick around for a few weeks for the transition (aka train the new guy).

I drove 100 miles round trip to this place for 5 months, spent 600 a month (3k) in gas alone. Not including my time (4 hours in traffic x 5 = 20 hours of hell a week), tires, wear, insurance (ripped me a new one when they found out) just to go to work. All this on a 12 year old SUV with now 150k miles. Then they did this to me.

I missed a day at work because my car broke down. I got no benefits at all (none, zip, notta). Any holidays I had to make up to make 40 hours and did. In the 5+ months working at this place I missed a total of 5 hours. This included a day my car broke down, 1 sick day, and 2 holidays.

I am half tempted to walk out now, but then it would place all the burden on my co-worker who said she’s sorry about it. To top it off, she pregnant so it would be wrong to leave her with the work. But I am so ticked… I basically got laid off for no real reason except to be replaced by someone that is a mid-sr. lvl guy (They hired me in as a entry because they wanted an entry, they where not forced into it) that is payed way more (should be about 20-30k higher than me easily).

I just don’t get it, no complaints, came in early, did my job, and worked to get to my job and they hire something completely different.

What gets me the most is he insulted me before he told me all this. Asked if I really wanted to program. And I didn’t seem to be learning anything off the work site (although they put new stuff in front of me all the time and it got done, so what was I doing? I guess he thinks I was getting lucky). Also he wanted to know if I ever took a public speaking course (I sit at my desk and program, I have not once had to speak to anyone about endorsing or changing project specs, hell I have never even been in a meeting) and that I really should (WTF!!!)

Then he speaks nicely and wants me to stay for a few weeks…

Better to vent here instead of going postal. Nice good working guys always finish last. 12,500 miles on SUV, 782 gallons of gas, 500 hours waiting in traffic wasted. FTMFL!!!

man sorry to hear about that man, its always sad to hear about someone that works hard, tries to make a good living and gets let go out of the blue... It is the nature of the beast in some industries though.. (typically only in the slow season though..) I work in Title Insurance (real estate) and we have pretty bad lay-offs in the winter season when house sales are down.. or this whole year as house sales are not what they were a few years ago... and to refi now isnt the best idea either..What type of Insurance are you in?

Sorry about the job. Just keep you eye on the ball. Whether you get a Z tomorrow or next year, you will still get a Z. Best wishes with your new employer.

This is a precarious situation. If you leave today, essentially you are quitting, and do not qualify for unemployment insurance payments.

Ask the boss for a termination date in writing.

very true.. plus with everything you have said about yourself, it sounds like you are a hard working person, who just got pardon my french but ****ed over... really bad situation... If it were me, and with as many emotions you may have towards the company, finish out your time, till the boss says pack your desk (that way you were fired) and plus its more money that will be going into your pocket.. in a sense, getting let go this way may work better for you than pack your desk, out by 5..

Man what a situation this also happened to me when i was doing carpentry its not a good feeling. But one thing is for sure your not the only one in this situation companies are ****ing there employees everyday. You just gotta take the punches you seem like a hard working stand up guy i hope the best for you get a better job and money you deserve. And remember never dwell on this stuff just move forward and look for a exit plan its nothing but a waste of time trying to figure what went wrong and what you did to deserve it.Good luck man you will get that Z be patient.

Good luck out there.

On the positive side at least you have a good float of emergency money right now since you had saved some for you new car. I know you hate to dig into it but if you have too at least its there.

I have been downsized before and at the time it sucks but I have found in the long run things like this end up being good for you. I ended up in a better position afterwards and hopefully you will too. Most people I know that have been laid off have ended up with a higher paying job.

My advice is to work there as long as you can. Its never wise to burn bridges even when someone else lit them on fire first. File for unemployment as soon as you can cause it takes some time to start getting checks. Even if you don't need the money take it. You have been paying into the system for as long as you are working now is time to get something back out of it.

Also, Since you have some time still on the job, get looking for that new job right now.

The Z will be waiting for you when you are ready and then it will be just that much sweeter to turn that key for the first time.
