I had the shop come and clean it up. I will probably take it to the dealership and have them check it out. Thanks for the feedback.

Good move. My assumption (guessing what you did) was wrong .

Making the shop do the clean-up was very wise. Of course, they would be stupid if resisting this (they created the problem, and refusal to correct it would open them to a lot of liability... an oil spill, no matter how small, requires a cleanup).

...very smart and alert guy

Thanks, well, it happened at my work. We are manufacturers, so the environmental/quality guys would be all over my as s if it wasn't cleaned up and I certainly wasn't gonna clean it up.

I'm pretty sure your engine is OK. Lots of oil (notice the volume of the "spill") keeps the engine safe. I experienced nearly the same thing, and the outcome was favorable (no engine damage).

I would still send a registered letter to the shop. Since they had to do a "spill-cleanup," your case is already established.

It looks like you'll be fine. However, I'd still have it fully checked out at the shop's expense.

man thats an *** hat move, you could possible have some damage to your crank if the rod bearings started to go, it just depends on how much oil was in the motor when you drove the car, if the oil was full and didnt start spilling at all untill the car was off you should be fine.

only time will tell if you have any engine damage. Some times, things will fail sooner than they would have under normal operating conditions. However, it obviously had some oil in it when you stopped the engine, so possibly you will be alright. Stories like this make me glad that I always change my own oil, grease monkeys are only grease monkeys for a reason.

having spent some serious time in the auto service industry, and having seen this scenerio several times, here is what should be done if any of you ever have this happen to you:
1. dont touch the car, call the place that did the oil change and have the car picked up.
2. have the car taken to a dealership to be checked. they will not only run comp/leakdown but also send the oil out for analysis.. looking for metals etc.
this is the only way to know what damage happened.
OP, best of luck, make sure Nissan dealership checks your engine.

+1.. I'd just replenish the engine with a new batch of oil, take it as a lesson learned, call it a day...
