Default Oil Consumption

I really don't feel like reading 1100+ posts on the oil consumption problem in that stickied thread; so hopefully you guys can help me...

I found a couple of 06 Z's in my area and basically what i wanted to know is if there is any way i can find out if that Z has an oil consumption problem before i buy it?

I ran a carfax report and they came back clean...

I found a 06 Touring MT Z w/ 3800miles for $25k OTD...

I don't think most 06's MT consume oil. My 06 doesn't...

I'm going to be away from the store for a few days on business. If it can wait until Tuesday, PM me, I would be happy to run the Vin# for you and let you know the warranty history.

No. A smart seller will top off the oil.

I went to the service center today and they told me that only 05's and 06's manual transmissio Z have the problem. I'm sick of it. They said that they are coming out with a Kit to fix the problem soon... ??!!?

I was one of those who had oil consumption problem but nissan put a new motor in my car and now it seems to be doing good I have over 4k on new motor and 555 miles on my car after oil change and the oil is still right where it should be, but i still seem to watch it last time i had to add about 1qt between oil change but i've heard of other years having to add some oil between changes so i can live with that and i did go on a long drive for some classes i had to take about 150miles straight and it was close to the time to change my oil so will see, but i'm happy... point of the story is warranty get a new motor if it consumes oil, would i buy another 06 hell yeah!!
p.s davidv is right and if it has not been recorded yet then how would nissan know its a problem ,but i got mine 2nd owner first guy turned it back into nissan 5000miles on it and i noticed the problem right away and had them start oil consumption test and it ate 2qt in 1k miles, new motor, thank you nissan

Mine never has eaten quite that much but I would guess its eating close to a quart evey 1000. It runs so well otherwise that I am slow to make a judgement but I am definitely keeping a very close eye on it.

nissan will tell you that is with in specs thats what they told me if its only eating 1qt in 1k you'll be fine thats what they are deeming ok and if your happy just do that keep an eye on it mine still eats a little and I'm ok with it now just not as much as it was if i first got it and it was eating only a qt every 1k then i probly would not have gone through the trouble of getting a new motor I would have just done the same I love this car like no other I've driven
