Yeah, the only way I'd entertain the idea would be if the testing was done during the winter, when my Z would just be sitting in my garage anyways. In MI we only get to drive our roadsters 6 months out of the year.

I'd also have to have my insurance deductible at $0, and stock cats. Even then I'd be leery, cuz the only thing that could result is a campaign against Z's if emissions are judged NG.

 

why would you let someone drive your car for testing? thats ridiculous and not worth worrying about. throw the letter in the garbage.

Why does the letter have you call a private company and not the EPA? When it is a EPA representatiev sending it. Usually letter from federal agencies have more info/codes in the footers so we know how our federal tax dollars are being used. Also, who actually centers the signature block in a business letter and does not include a date. It just does not look professional or as if they have some standard form of letterhead.

 

Our inefficient government probably wanted a study done, and it was easier to contract out the study to an outside company.

I wouldn't be worried about someone else driving my car -- they can't drive it any harder than I do.

 

What envelope did it come in. Was it a govt. letter head?

 

if the testing is legit, it's probably not going to be "driven" much anyway. it'll likely be strapped to a chassis dyno in a lab w/ controlled conditions.

I just called Sure **** and it was some SGT that answered the phone, he put me on hold or something, I just hung up heh...

 

Unless you are in desperate need of cash and a full tank of gas, I would not do it.

 

You drive a 350Z. You don't need 20 dollars a day.

 

Legit or not, answer would always be F'in NO!. If I cared THAT much about the environment, I would drive a hybrid. I'll recycle maybe even plant a tree, but don't f* with my car. Hell my wife doesn't even ask me to borrow it.

 

Call the local cops. The post office, the FBI and anybody else you can think of and see if you can burn the SOB trying to run a scam.

 

Someone please confirm this. That's the best thing to do to find out for sure. I can hear Granpa Simpson screaming now... "Eeepa, Eeepa, Eeepa!!!"
