Default Got a letter from the EPA...

So I got a letter in the mail the other day from the EPA. They want to 'borrow' my Z for 1-4 weeks while they perform emissions testing on it. In return they will give me $20/day plus a loaner car, or $50 a day w/o a loaner car.

Weird thing was, my VIN# was hand-written on the form, so someone took some time writing out this request.

Has anyone else received a letter from the EPA? I wonder how the HF cats would perform...

No I never received a letter like this. I wouldn't give them the car. Sounds strange - The EPA could probably get a Z from a local dealer for free as long as they don't put miles on it.

That's about as shady as a 50 foot oak at 5:00PM in early Fall.

What the letter really means

Has anyone else received a letter from any drug dealers? I wonder how the car would perform when he is on tv running from the highway patrol...

You realize that your vin number is available as public information right?

It really wouldn't take much for someone to fill out forms like this for a couple blocks and hope that at least one naive dumbass would fall for it.

The EPA tests prior to production -- it doesn't just randomly select cars off the street for "emissions testing."

SCAM and a Federal offense. Contact the police, postal authorities or FBI. Don't handle the letter any more.

Like to everyone else, this seems far-fetched. Why haven't you scanned the letter yet? Your state probably has a consumer affairs office with the State Attorney General that would be interested in this.

I can see why they would ask to "borrow" your car, considering renting one is about 300 a day.
