He called..I think most people who ordered it early should call their dealer and check for VIN number. It is out there!!

I was told that the time between ship and dealer might be less depending on the inspections done by Nissan, being the first batch they will do a thorough inspection before releasing them.

 

Well.....that is very interesting information. Since RXO told us the LA arrival was 8/12 and yours in JAX is 8/19...I am pretty confident the below ship is the one. It leaves Yokohama, arrives in LA on the 12th and in JAX on the 19th.

Now I don't claim to be a sailor guy, but I was unaware of ships sailing into DALLAS and DENVER BTW, zgirl there is a god, having spent a little time in Stockholm, I can say to a scientific certainty...the most beautiful women in the world are SWEDISH.

 

I agree, my understanding after talking with the schedule manager listed on the website is that the arrival dates to the landlock cities is estimated time of arrival from ship to rail to location. The reason they leave the word "ship" beside the destination is to denote a potential timing issue. Once the ship has docked and offloaded cargo for a landlocked city the word changes to "rail". The main difference being the ability to determine precise arrival times. And thus I think I understand why our dealers can't be more precise is our delivery dates.

I suspect my dealer gave me an incorrect digit on the 12th digit. All VIN's I've seen here so far are "0", he indicated that mine is a "1". Who knows, as long as it's here on time.

Now the nex question, who has the lowest serial #. I'm betting some of us are reluctant to give that out. We'll see.

 

JN1AZ34E03T000** due for pick up in SoCal on 8/31 but might be more like 8/29 because the dealer said they usually don't get a truck on Saturday so it should be a day early! Ordered 1/12 changed order in March.

 

I've seen a couple of other VINS with a 1 after the T, so had my dealership.

 

Dealer called with a VIN and a delivery date of September 4. Sounds like it is on the same ship as Westpak. Mine is being delivered to Merritt Island FL abot 120 miles north of West Palm.

 

Am I the only one to have a "D" in the 8th digit of my VIN. Is my car gonna be hexed, haunted or does the D stand for damaged. I've posted on Zcar, only because it's the only place he looks, ZISME as to what the digits 4-8 mean. I know it's model specific, but as you can tell with 1 month to go ... I've got to do something to keep myself busy. My 4-8th digits are AZ34D.

Any takers?

My dealer, Smithtown Nissan, called and said they have a vin #. It was a voice message. The inventory manager is gone for the weekend so I will have to wait until Monday.

aRCHDUKE,at least you got a VIN number, I was the only car to show up on the dealers list for 2 1/2 months, was told august delivery, have the only "R" # at my dealer, then a few weeks ago I got the paper that said build 07/02 delivery 09/02, so I call the dealer today and all of the "S" #'s have VINS and I have NO VIN...... people who ordered in march and february are getting VIN's and their cars, I order 1/11 and I get nothing, I know I am not waiting patiently , but this seems very strange and very unfair..I hope nissan gets the rest of the majority of cars over here soon..this may be my last nissan if they can't make things go more in order and deliver these cars to us that have waited the longest first...I am not trying to be a whiner I am just very disappointed....this new car will be my 4th Z and most likely my last nissan ever

It is very unlikely that Nissan is producing the cars in the sequence they were ordered. Most likely, they will have looked at the product mix and determined the most efficient and cost-effective manner to produce the cars. I know this is not what most of us want to hear, but that is how they keep the costs down, which means we get the cars at such a bargain. That said, I completely understand your frustration. I gave my dealer my deposit and order on 1/17, but they didn't fax it in until 5/29. I don't know what would be more annoying: 1) being in your case and not getting the cars delivered in sequence 2) being in my situation and having them deliver the cars in sequence of dates ordered.
