Default HELP! Looking to buy 350z MAYBE but i need to pick from my lineup choices

Hey guys,

I've been on this site for the last 2 months (i think..) just reading thread after thread and I must say, you guys make me wanna get the 350z more and more! BUT!!! heres the problem. I am currently weighting my options to buy a car and my choices are so hard to pick from. SO, here are a list of my options and hopefully you guys will give me some good reasons why i should pick the 350z over the rest:

1. 07' 350z
2. 93' - 98' Toyota Supra
3. 04'- 06' Subaru STI (Had a 03' WRX and FELL DEEPLY in love with it. HEHE )
4. .05' - 07' Honda S2K
5. 94' - 96' Acura NSX

HEHE... So hard to pick. Well, I plan on buying A car by this winter if not early early spring next year or maybe sooner cuz im F****** ICHING to hop into a sports car again. its been 3+ years since ive drove anything that went fast.

Oh, one more thing. Do you guys know or seen a 350z pumping out 400whp ALL MOTOR (non-turbo). Cuz if i plan on getting the 350z I want it to be 400whp non-turbo, I kinda have this thing about turboing a N/A car. hehe Although i may turbo a 350z Laaaaaattttteeeeeerrrrrr down the line.

Sorry for the LONG intro, I hope i can get some help from you guys.

2. 93' - 98' Toyota Supra
Nothin' wrong with this car ... but it'll be used and have many miles on it. If you're okay with not knowing how the car was handled (driven, but more importantly MAINTAINED), then it's a valid choice. Just be prepared to deal with problems sooner than you'd expect from a new car.

3. 04'- 06' Subaru STI (Had a 03' WRX and FELL DEEPLY in love with it. HEHE )
Another great car. The reason I didn't get one, though, is because I didn't like the way it looked ... plus I wanted a pure RWD sportscar. I admit it'd probably beat the Z on a track.

4. .05' - 07' Honda S2K
Bleh ... sure, it's a nice car ... but there is no torque. As long as you keep the car on the edge, it'll be fun... but it'd be a pain to drive "regular" because of the lack of torque.

5. 94' - 96' Acura NSX
I'd love one... but they're notoriously difficult to maintain (and thus, are expensive) due to the fact it's a mid-engine car. I hear good things, otherwise.

HEHE... So hard to pick.
Indeed. This is quite a nice list of cars you have there . My best advice would be to write down everything you like about the cars or don't like (e.g. looks or power or handling or storage). If something is important to you, underline it. Then just look over the list and think it over and see which car draws you in the most.

Thus far ... nope. However, the '07 Z's engine is fairly different than the older models... many members/sponsers have very high hopes for this engine. GTM said that they'd have a N/A stroker kit for the engine that they estimate will produce 500whp ... 'course, currently, this is just a guesstimate.

A 350Z speaks for itself, just go test drive one... No explanation needed.

1. 07' 350z

I had a similar list when i decided to buy a car. Well, with the toyota supra like the other guy said you dont really know how well its been maintained. Usually, used cars will have more problems, especially the sports cars. Good luck finding a good price with low miles. The supra's with low miles usually cost as much as a new car. For the sti, its a great car but the only problem is the look. I really wanted an Sti but the z's look got me. The exterior and interior is more appealing. I get so many "nice car" comments from random people, i know if i had an sti i would get the exact opposite. I like the look of the sti but only true car lovers would appreciate it. The sti is faster and is cheaper to mod. The s2k is a nice car but it just seems to small for me. Its probably cheaper to mod because its a honda. I cant say anything else about it. The NSX.. is a nice car but hard to maintain ( just like the other guy said). If your balling i would get it. As for the Z, everyone loves the Z. The 07 is great because of the new engine. The Z gets better every year and the new HR has a lot of potential. The only problem is modding cost a lot of money.

Just make sure you test drive everything.

What's your budget? I almost certain that a clean low mileage supra will be out of your price range.

Only the 350z is 07, which means it'll be a new car, so why go for a used car (# 2,3,5) when you can afford a brand new.

As for the S2000, same price as the 350z but 60 horses less.

When are you going to make the decision??

I would stick with either the Supra or the Z.

Both have great looks and are very quick cars. Supras will be hard to find in good condition with low miles that are affordable. If you don't LOVE supras get the Z, it is a great option. I love mine and the new motor on the 07 is pretty sweet.

You want a 400WHP N/A Z? You would be able to buy another car on that list with the money it would cost to get that out of a Z by going N/A.

Response to JDMFAIRLADYZ33: My budget is $35,000 less the better. lol...

Response to ALCHENG: New yes, but I buy a car for the potential of what it can produce and withhold. Also, if its old then restore it. OH, I plan on making a decision late this month or early next month but Ill take as long as i have too, to find the right car.

WhoaH!!

Not even 2 hrs into the post and so much good info. I luv this forum.

Well, regards to ZSHAZZ comments, you and i think alike and everyone else haha...

I test drove the 2007 350z and luv the new VQHR motor, the power out put is amazing for an N/A. After test driving it, I feel in luv with it and went for another 2 more test drives at different dealerships haha.... The 350z is the next closest thing to a Supra based on looks and power, minus the TT (which i agree with SirspeedyZ) but yes, the reliablity is making me think twice about it. I have 3 friends that own a Supra and 2 of them yet to have a single problem other then one of them having to replace a clutch, the 3rd one has had mutiple problems but that was because he bought an N/A Supra and replaced it with a 2JZ TT.

Sti, on the other hand, is a great car and very very very fun to drive but not a great looking car (agreed).

S2k, i like the stiff ride, 50/50 and drop top but.... yes, the torque is a problem for me.

Acura NSX, again THX ZSHAZZ, i never realized how much it cost to maintain it. Never actually processed in my hard head to research that car, it just looks so damn sexy. haha... but that one is now OFF MY LIST. whewwwww!!

Also, I need a car i can enjoy driving on canyons/tracks/daily driving/cruises. Im more into twist and turns then high high HP.... hehe I LUV TO DRIVE!

Well, right about now 350z is still on top then its the Supra and then STI.

Sorry guys if im posting replies all funky and sloppy, Im kinda new on forums and dont know how to use all the inns and outs. I actually, never cared to sign up for forums till now. And I am proud to say, MY350Z.com is my first forum. hehe

Wow, does parts really cost that much. hMmm, well, mainly I plan on spending alot of money one suspension parts for grip, balance and brakes for track and canyons. I just dont want to drop a TT on to the HR motor, seems like the new HR motor has a lot of potention and dont wanna ruin it.

I think turbos should just belong in cars that come and built for turbos. N/A's should just stay N/A but my research only goes so far and i bet i can be proven otherwise. IF SO PLEASE PROVE ME WRONG.

That gives you plenty of time to drives all the cars, and see which you like best.

1. NSX
2. 350z
3. S200

I'd get the NSX if I wasnt looking for a new car.

Yea, NSX is nice, especially when add body parts to it but after doing some research (example: To replace/swap a NSX v6 motor will cost around 10grand) the maintance and cost of parts can be expensive. To be honest, i REALLY want to avoid problems.

On the other hand, I could deal with the SUPRA haha... but rather not so IF the supra is the pick, I will be very aware of my pick.

Yeah seriously going high WHP N/A is expensive as hell. Nah and I get what youre saying about going turbo, a lot of older guys don't like boost. No worries.

i was in same prediction. I bought a 93 rx-7. Only thing i didn't look too much into maintaince on a car that old. Overall what i learned is buy a used car with very low miles. A s2k for example that can be a 05 with really low miles. Yea not that fast but if you buy the 07 Z brand spankn new for lets say 30 g's, buy the time you sell it you probably will get around 20 or maybe 24 with the mods. The rx i bought i put 30,000 miles on it, bought it for 15,000 thousand, put a few mods on it and sold it for 18,500. So i really was just borrowing it. With the new 06 i bought, i will overall looses 1/5 the value or so by the time i sell it. My next car will be a used nsx in 2009 or so. That way it used with super low miles
