Default grrrrrrr

So I went to the dealership, as I was going to pick up my car today. And they ordered the WRONG DAMN CAR. I had a DB Grand Touring with Nav coming...

They brought an automatic touring.

SOOO long story short, there is a black GT available. To those of you with a black Z: Is it worth keeping it clean? How much upkeep does it really take?

thanks in advance

IMO there's not a whole lot of difference between keeping DB clean vs. MB since both are very dark colors. If I was shopping for a darker shade that's not Silverstone/Carbon Silver, I'd go for the black.

Z looks best in black, IMHO, which is why i picked it. but i also love bright blue, orange, red.........anything but white and silver colors.

anyways, i am kind of **** about my car anyways, so upkeep isn't an issue. yes, black gets dirty quicker, but when its clean, the only cars getting more stares are on fire.

once when i was out waxing it, some random dude stops his car and starts asking about the Z. weird i guess.......

anyways, enough drunken babble from me. GET THE BLACK!!!!!!!!

black cars are the detailer's greatest challenge. owning a black car is like getting high...it will never be as good as the first time you get it. unless you repaint...

I can understand silver, but why not white? I think the Z looks great in either white or black only.

PPW, CS, SS, or any metallic color will hide dirt better than dark color paint. With that said there is nothing like a detailed clean black car.

well basically I went through all sorts of negotiations, and they found my car in california. so yay we order it...i go over all of the specs, etc and everything checks out. I don't know where they screwed up...but they ended up with a blue touring auto and WANTED TO CHARGE ME THE SAME PRICE!

thus...i have found one at a different dealership and it is black...just nervous about the cleaning business...

you are definitely right. My friend has a dark gray FX35 (just like yours) and he told me that he didn't wash his car for 6 months! and after he washed it there was no noticeable difference.

Black is one of the hardest colors to hide any imperfections... keep that in mind. But there is nothing like a clean detailed black car.....

well i don't think white is hideous or anything, but to me, the Z is such a sexy car it screams for a classic sports car color. who buys a Z to blend in? white is kind of "rental car" to me. then again, i have seen some nice PPW Zs on these forums.

keeping the DB clean is not quite as challenging as black, but about the same. I have a DB, and road grind shows up just like it would on black. If you had your heart set on the DB, in which i did, it wouldn't give the black a fair chance, and you may regret it after you purchase it. Having your heart set on one color, will give another color that you were forced to settle for a bad rep from the start. I say wait for your DB, pitch a f'n fit, and get more off the car for the when it does arrive.

Id go with DB because black gets frustrating. I drive my car alot and damn it seems i always tend to get a little scratch or dent. YOu cant see it from a far but damn i cant stand anything like that on my car. Like someone said, it shows a lot of stuff. THe problem I have is I cant keep it in my garage so I use a outdoor cover but, its a pain taking it on and off if your in a hurry. Dust is hard to keep clean and you gotta take extra care when washing black car. At the end of the day, I would still buy another black car...

You should always go with your first choice like HONDAKILLER said. You might regret it later.

imo, dont settle for anything less than what you have your heart set on (and can afford.) that being said, although black is a ***** to keep clean and perfect, a freshly detailed black car looks better than anything else, hands down.

blk is fine... i use a new wash mint every other time and use an electric leaf blower to dry it. this keeps it swirl and scratch free. also i like this new eagle one wash and wax thing...

If you want a blue 350Z, then insist on blue. Why settle for any color that is not your first choice.

i agree with david on this one. If you ordered a blue and want blue tell them to shove that auto up there azz. Tell them to order you another one asap or youll take your biz elsewhere. When your dealing with this kind of money it shouldnt be anything but exactly what you want.
