I found this at Harbor Freight for $3.99

I was thinking about getting one of these things, but you still have to take off the panel to get the oil filter out, or get oil all over the topside of the panel. In that case you might as well use a wrench. Then again my toolbox is taller than I am, so I don't have a problem doing my own work.

Exactly, plus having to pay the markup for synth

I order my Amsoil by the case and stock up on filters but I enjoy working on my cars. Unfortunately not everyone else feels the same.

For some people without mechanical aptitude, a garage, a driveway, friends, etc., this may be their only option.

So when you go to have a surgery to remove bone spurs, and you come out with an amputated foot, on the wrong foot nonetheless, don't complain. That's just life.

I usually take my car for an oil change at Mr. Lubes, but after I bought the Zed, I thought why not go to the dealership this time for an oil change. Turns out the people manning the oil change station at the dealership are just as young or younger then the people working at Mr. Lubes.

Anyway, they screwed up by putting regular oil when I asked for synthetic and I had to wait again in line to get it fixed. I since have always gone to Mr. Lubes and they do a fine job. I go there all the time for my daily driver and my 350Z so you get to know them, they get to know you and that just helps them treat your care with better care. Oh, and they give me back the half bottle of synthetic mobile that they didn't use

For those people who say change your own oil, what do you do with the old oil? How/where do you dispose of it?

Theirs a place down by my house where my rents have taken theirs for years they do great. Do you live in an appartment? if not you can borrow tools from oreilys most of the time you only need about 3 tools for the job just for your info.

Okay thats alittle extreme there....i guess i should of said take it to every oil/lube place till you find a good one.

As for disposing oil I take mine to Autozone, so call up your local autozone, napa, o'reilys, etc and ask them if they dispose used motor oil for free. They usually log how much oil you bring them too.

When I 1st changed the oil on my Z, I took that plastic panel off. Not sure how many have removed it from their Z. I never park on grass so it's not much of an issue for me to not have it.

I don't think that under panelling has anything to do with grass. I believe it is for areodynamics.

Well, if you are from the south it has to do with the grass. Just ask the engine in the tree.

Your local Autozone, Kragen, Pep Boys, or (and I mean as your last option) call the city waste and ask them how to dispose. You can find all contact info simply by looking in the phone book.
I have an Autozone 3.5 miles away from my home.

+1.

TMK, prior automotive knowledge isn't a requirement for most oil change places.

I'd like to keep mine on, but when you go FI, it doesn't make sense to keep it on, you're removing it all the time and all 20 or so 10mm bolts holding it on
