i just bought an 03 for $20,500 but i think i paid a lil more because it was hard to find a PPW. also, this one is a touring edition that came with navi. 48k miles.

Damn, I paid way to much for mine You got a great deal on yours. As for an 03' the price sounds about right, but being in Oregon that would be a more tough to sell in that state.

The used market is flooded with nice condition Zs. 19k for a 03 model is pretty ambitious. If you hang on to it, you may eventually find a sucker willing to pay your asking price, but if you want to move it quickly, I suggest lowering the price like others have mentioned. When I got rid of my 03, I could barely give it away since there were so many other used Zs available in the area.

Can't compare to the OP. However the OP thinks life is fair, so he won't lower his price, so he won't sell the car. Simple as that. It's a simple law of economics - if it does not sell, then the price is too high. Interesting thread title tho.

I just pd 20k for a 2003 touring w/ 3,000 (yes three thousand) on it......that's why...and its orange, which puts your car into an even smaller niche... Around here used 03's with miles around yours are running 25k at dealers....the market in West texas is anything but flooded.....Its a corvette market.

It's the 03 rims..they make the car look like a toyota camry. Might I suggest swapping them for the 06 stock rims?

Compare kbb with sites like autotrader and recycler. Also check ebay. Remeber you are competing with sellers on those site not Kbb.

From my experience Kbb prices are way off from market prices. Sometimes high sometimes low and can be thousands of dollars off.

Now this really is quite annoying to me. I got my 2006 Touring 10 months ago for 34,000 and today the car is worth 24,500. I mean, WTF!

Gotta love depreciation. That's why lightly used one year old cars are great deals. You get a near-new car and the previous owner takes most of the hit.

is this the reason why you're selling it? or what is the reason you want to sell it?
if you're selling it cause everyone is getting one....
dont look at it cause its more common, if you thought it was going to be an unattainable car to most young people you were wrong, and not every japanese car will hold its value, the Z is not like the Supra(still netting 25-30+), NSX(20-60), or FD(10-25).... those cars set the benchmark in their respective areas whether its top speed, handling, etc... and they made some racing history in the US racing circuit
the 350Z is just a continuation of the Z badge and didnt really improve on anything, sure it won races.... but has it broken any records yet? did it stand out in a sea of other competitors that performed almost the same?

yes it makes great power, its handles, its got very appealing styling, its a sexy looking car....
look at the car for what it is, not for what you visibly see on the street from other people.

fairly soon you'll see the Z actually make its mark on the industry instead of its versatile engine and chassis platform, until then its value will not hold above 20+k unless its 2 years old or newer with certain trim levels(but even that is a stretch). the 3 cars mentioned before were ridiculously priced, but once they were in their last days of production, these cars were catching eyes as they were winning races, shown in movies etc... their value dwindled, but once people noticed how inexpensive they were in the used car market and their potential, their demand was higher then when they were new, so it brought resale value back up.

i say keep the car, cause there will be one day when you'll say "damn, i wish i didnt get rid of my Z, i forgot how sexy it looks" and then you'll go through alot to find another one that will suit you again as when you first got the one spec'd put like you wanted

P.S. those who commented about the price on KBB, trust them, of you were trade it in you'll get raped cause they will almost never give you KBB or NADA, its their choice if they want it or not and if you dont agree with what they will offer they're not going to pay more than what they are willing to pay.
Also, not everyone is going to have $19k in cash, almost noone these days saves to buy a car in cash unless its under 10 or 5k.... and not all the time will a bank approve a loan to buy a car from a private seller, there are certain conditions for them to do so which can be a hassle most of the time.

please keep the car, you'll thank us later.....

P.P.S. this was just my opinion if you WERE getting rid of the car cause it is becoming more common on the streets, please dont take it as an offense.

dont look at a cars resale vale from KBB, NADA etc... those are merely guidelines for used car dealers to play with.....when in a motorsports type industry, people look at certain cars price as fair market vale. meaning whats the potential, how clean is it, was it unmolested, does it have tasteful mods, what is someone willing to pay

when you sell a car, look at their websites(forums), see what someone is willing to pay. when you see rx-7, bimmer, supra, etc forums, the cars that are being sold specifically on there and not at a car lot is because they will get the price their looking for because it is a "Fair Value"

im the type of person who is willing to either wait a while for the old stock to lower in price(there are many new z's being sold for less cause of their year and the stock needs to be replaced), or buy a brand new z cause its the one i want, i could careless if i thew my money away buying new, its got my stench on it, my *** print, full warranty, and is being in my care until i pay it off, i will never sell a car unless its paid off or if i really wanted to get out of it for some financial or a serious reason where it would not be feasible to keep owning

Rather than selling the car because it's more common now, modify it and make it stand out amongst all the other Z's. This way when compared to another Z someone can point at yours and say "that one's nicer".
