Crap ratings. They never define the term "sports car" and include muscle cars like the Mustang. Then they rate the cars on the number of hits to the automobile sites. And its MSNBC, not a legit sports car oriented site. Junk input. Junk data. Garbage in. Garbage out.

Well I see I've joined a site full of H8TRS. I LOVE, let me repeat LOVE my 350Z, but I give credit where credit is due. The Mustang is iconic. I myself, have a mustang V8 5.0 and will never part with it. Its as American as apple pie and baseball. Get over it kids, just because its not a Z, doesnt mean it sucks. I always hear this American vs Asian car debate... I take it if money wasn't an issue, you take a Tibs over a 'Stang?

"The most popular sports cars on MSN Autos, based on visits to the site's vehicle pages during months April through June of 2007."
As I posted 40 posts ago, it's a LIST of searched cars at MSN Auto. Ford Mustang has a great heritage, and lot of people will only buy American- especially when it's:
"Available in a coupe or convertible, the rear-wheel-drive Mustang is one of the most affordable sports cars today with a starting price of under $20,000"
American muscle car heritage, without the horsepower, for less than $20,000.
Okay? Get over it.

I love how this site is filled with a many JDM fan boys. I definately don't agree with this list, but most of the responces here are histerical.
Narrow minded "enthusiasts" FTL!
PS. This MSN list really sucks though.

has anyone noticed the introduction of this article? they talk about the number 1 mustang and the number 2 corvette, but they completely skip the number 3 350Z and go on to talk about #4 M3? take a look...
Although many people may think a true sports car must be loaded with horsepower and carry little more than a price tag only high rollers can afford, this is simply not the case. And if affordability plays an important role in any product with broad appeal, it comes as no surprise that Ford's Mustang is the most popular sports car on MSN Autos for the sixth consecutive quarter.
The iconic sports car's MSRP starts under $22,000, and it is available in coupe or convertible form. Following in second place is Chevrolet's world class, high-performance Corvette. In fact, this other American icon has been the second most popular sports car for three consecutive quarters.
Coming in fourth place is a favorite among car enthusiasts, the BMW M3. The M3 will likely receive an update for the 2008 model year, with the new version possibly debuting at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show.

No quarrel with this but the Mustang is not a sports car. Its a muscle car. There is a difference.

Atleast I agree with some of you that the list is screwed up. But all the hate & fanaticism is really getting old.
