I advanced my timing 2 degs and became instantly hooked. The throttle response is incredible. Just rest your foot on the gas pedal and the car starts to pull. Others Dyno'd it against a chip replacement. The results were 6HP and 3lbs of torque (this is on a 2.0 4cyl). The aftermarket chip (which required stock timing) was 6HP and 4lbs of torque. Of course, on the modern engines you have no choice but to buy the chip, but, in my case I saved $600.
Some Nissan engines are very detonation friendly so this may not be much of an issue on the VQ. Although, I'd wait for SCC mag to do one of their wonderful tecnhical reviews on the VQ before I would take my word for it.
