Default Got my VIN

I ordered in April and I got this info while on vacation from Dan "The best dealer in the world" Ziegler:

GREAT NEWS… I have your VIN#......

It is JN1AZ34E33T000XXX The delivery date has not been set yet, but I would assume sometime in mid September……

Thanks again for your continued support and kind words online.

Cool my data for the soup!

Don't have my packet number handy (its at home and I'm at work), but it was high 7000s. I'll try to remember to get it to you later.

Found out last week from the dealer that my order number is 56263 (didn't give the letter prefix) and that my delivery date is targeted at Nov 2nd. No big surprise to me since I didn't order until June 17.

No VIN yet. Other relavent info...
Color: Brickyard

Default VIN breakdown by model

Quick analysis of Scaf's VIN Soup for those lucky souls with VINs shows the following:

2 Base
10 Enthusiast
6 Performance
32 Touring
9 Track
9 Undisclosed

68 Total

That's about 47% Touring.

Looks to me like the Touring model was given build priority. But, I seem to remember that it was the most-ordered model, so that would make sense.

Is it too late to change my order to Touring? I'd probably get shafted with that too. Oh well.

Dave

Angry

You can take me off your order list. Although I ordered in January, and was initially assured by my dealer that delivery would be early August, that date kept slipping, and slipping, and slipping until the most recent expectation was to get the car by Oct. 1. They still have no VIN's for any of their customers, although 5 of us ordered by Jan 23, and had our orders faxed in promptly. In the end, a desire to have a car by our 25th wedding anniversary won out over the desire to have a Z. We now have a cute silver Boxster in our garage, and someone else will eventually have our Sunset Z. To our dealers credit (Hubler Nissan in Indianapolis), they refunded our "non-refundable" deposit with only token resistance, thereby saving us the trouble of selling our spot to regain our deposit. I will continue to lurk on this site, and wish all of you well with your new cars, whenever they may arrive.

I understand your decision. Have fun with the Boxster. I ordered my Z in March, hoping to have it in time for my wife's birthday in mid August. I am now wondering if I will have it in time for our anniversary in late November.

I fear this is more like fuel for the fire, then just spice for the soup!

Thanks for your info Autobahn.

An April order, with an August delivery. Man, you must live right. Being in the LA area myself, I sure hope I didn't skip past the dealer you bought from, and that could've been my order!

example:

JN1AZ34E63T000
and
JN1AZ34D73T101

are both chrome silver touring models, but one is an 'E63' the other a 'D73'... What gives here? Does nissan use multiple vehicle codes for the same model? If so why?
There are actually two unique digits in the model number: they all start with "AZ34" then have two digits, followed by the "3" which represents the model year 2003. Those two digits are a mystery. I actually went to the trouble of typing in most of the cars in Scafremon's Soup with model, color, and two digit code into a spreadsheet. I could find no correlation; it appears to be totally random.

(It might relate to all the options on the car, which is not shown in the soup. With two digits that can be numbers or letters, they could represent 1,296 combinations, which may be enough. But this is a totally wild guess and probably completely wrong.)

Oh Man!

I would've been happy to export the data for you to use...save you all that typing. If you ever want me to, just let me know. It's in an Access database, I can send it in that format, or a bunch of others.

There's really only one "random" digit in the VIN, the check digit in the 9th spot. Somewhere, someone posted a link to courtesyparts.com that explained the meaning of each digit in a Nissan VIN. I'll post again for your convenience!

It is likely somewhat outdated, as the A before Z3 corresponds to the engine type and VQ35DE is not listed as being an A engine (or listed at all for that matter).

The VIN will not tell you what trim, color or options were ordered.

Here's the link:
