One of my classmates drives a twin turbo 300ZX, we park next to each other. He loves my car and I love his car. I'd go with the 300ZX. It's just an awesome car especially with the twin turbo and the T-Tops (wish I had those).

It all comes down on how much money you have to spend. I’ve had a lot of experience with both cars. The 300 is more of an early 90's car like the supra. I personally think the 350z handles better than the 300 stock to stock. It feels lighter and more nimble. The 300zx TT is much faster on the highway with slight modifications. It all comes down to what you want to do with the car. The 300zx is a much better base for a power house without breaking into the motor than the 350, at least in my experience, but it will be expensive to maintain. Parts for the 300 are more expensive than they are for the 350, not to mention they don’t make much for the 300 anymore. I prefer the 350. It’s reliable, easy to work on and easy to get parts for. If I did more highway driving, I might get a 300zx just to have the power. I’ve been in a 600hp 300zx on the highway and a 550hp 350z, and the 300zx has the legs (top end is hard to beat on those cars) but the 350z feels more stable at speed than the 300zx does. I also have a problem with the T-tops. Typically, if they were not taken off on a regular basis depending on where the car was, if you take them off for the first time in a long time they leak and the seals are expensive and definitely not fun to install. It all comes down to what you like. I prefer the way a 350 feels, but I think the 300zx looks better – much more ahead of its time almost like Lamborghini or Ferrari. It’s all down to you and what you want the car for. Oh, if you can find a 95 it’s the best year to have the engine and head design on the tt is stronger and better for power.

You're joking right? That was excellent. Thank you very much. I think if I am able to find a 300zx in the next two weeks, TT stick of course, in good condition I won't hesitate to buy it. It's fast, sexy, and original. Definitely will stand out in the student parking lot (I'm 17). If not I will just get the 350z.

Thank's to everyone who contributed to this thread.

Im just like this with my friend( who is on his 2nd 300zx, the 1st one was n/a and somebody totaled his car and he now drives the tt). He has a built 300zx TT pushing around 425whp. He always says he loves my car and i say the same to his 300 but damn about 11mpg on the street is too much for me.

Man, now it's making me have second thoughts. I sort of still wish I had gotten a 300ZX... I was set to go, but the problem was that my father had a past experience driving a 600 hp one, and he said it's the fastest thing he'd ever **** his pants in. Now, that's something serious, because being in the car audio industry, we've driven customer's cars ranging from Vipers to Porsches. And considering he's been in it the longest, he's been behind the wheels of some very powerful cars. But, he was very set-minded with me, and told me he absolutely would not allow me to buy a 300ZX because it's simply way too fast. So, I ended up with the 350. I love it to death, and it's sexy as hell, but I hope one day I'll be able to afford both.

Well i went through the same thing and i track my car road course not drag and i pass most the 300zx's on the track and my car is stock the biggest problem is the 300zx is much heavier than the 350z and for a track car weight is everything. Im not big on HP its good and fast is nice but i love slamming into a corner and scaring the people infront of me as i catch up to them middle corner.

The 300ZX is more of a car then the 350Z, but also a much different car. I owned a 91 and loved it. I own a 2003 now and love it too.

Think about it in 91 my Z had a MSRP of over 38K, a loaded 350Z will only run you about 30K.

That said it depends on what you are looking for. My 2003 350Z Touring 6MT is faster then my 91TT was, or at least if feels faster. The 300ZX was much more of a luxury vehicle. It was quiet and smooth, and capable of allowing you to cover long distances in comfort. My 350Z is no luxury car, even though it is a touring, and not the greatest for long trips.

When Nissan brought the 350Z back they based it on the style of the 240/260, that is a raw and simple sports car. For the 300Z Nissan added the X, rumored to mean luxury. The 300ZX technically not a sports car, it is classed as a GT.

Before deciding to go with my Z, I initially entertained the idea of just getting a mint shaped VGTT and use the extra money in my pocket that I "might" have given up for the VQ for some nice wide shoes, suspension and sleek paint job. After going back and forth with the idea of getting either a VGTT, RX7 FD TT, and R32 GTR I know in the end I'll end up wanting a brand new 350Z.

I don't like to fiddle around with cars, drop a lot of dough and try to sell the car later in efforts to get as much money as I can back from my investment. In the long run if you feel this isn't the car that won't fully satisfy you, save yourself some headache, some change, and a lot of time and get your Z

I bought a 300 TT and sold my 350. I don't regret it one bit. The TT, although older, has a better build quality. And for 1200 dollars you can add 100hp. It doesn't handle quite as well, but close. However, stock TT is faster than stock 350. If the z you are looking at is NA, don't waste your money. There was a black 91 5spd TT on ebay with 35k miles on it. Last week and it didn't sell (buy it now 15k). If you pm me I can get you the sellers contact info.

Remember the 300ZXTT was in the class of the super cars and to this day it still can beat a lot of " modern super cars" with minimal upgrades. My TT was a 91 Automatic stage 6 and I would blow away 911 gt3,350Z could not even keep up they were breakfest for me.
Umm... so your 300ZX was bad ***? Gratz. The 350Z is a better car. Put the same mods on a 350Z and TURN A CORNER and the 350Z will absolutely kill a 300ZX. Straight lines are for Chevy dudes feeling up their sisters.

Not saying the 300ZX sucked. I loved mine, but they didn't take a step backwards in technology when they made the 350Z. It is a better car. Period.

Any by the way, I was talking stock vs. stock and not stacking a crap load of aftermarket crap on it. I don't care if your 300 was stage XXIVIXL. Put the same thing on a 350 and pull out a weenie ruler and take a new measurement.

The wonderful vq engine that consumes oil like its going out of style isn't much of an improvement.
