I've had a couple of aftermarket 4 cyld turbo cars already so i know about cost and how things just pop up. I'm new to the 6 cyld game though. There are a couple of Z guys in my town that installed thier own kits and thier cars are doing fine. I e-mailed them seeing if they are willing to help me out. I'm just trying to budget the money i spend on the Z. I don't want anything to extravagant. Just a clean fun car to drive. I do appreciate the help/advice though.

Protip for the idiots: Decent FI will cost several times as much as a set of good wheels. Increasing power so you can put it to the ground through 4 rolling turds is stupid beyond belief.
WTF? A decent set of wheels/tires can cost the same as a good FI kit. I have Volk Progressives 19x8.5, 19x10.5 which had cost about the same as an ATi procharger kit. Anyways learn from me and countless other guys that had their engines blow because of FI. Get wheels, get internals, then get FI.

Since you’ve already got some performance parts I’d go for rims to even out the styling and power of the car, there’s always time to fit a turbo later on.

YOU NEED a good tire offset to handle back pressure to your rear wheels. You need a staggered set up. Do it right, do it once. Get some VOLKS, or what ever to your liking. I think FI can wait, that is usually the last step, although most wanted i am sure. Just do the right, sensible thing. It wont ever be to late for FI. Maybe you can save more money and build parts of your engine to.. then you really need rims... and bigger tires 305/35/19's.. rear. just my cents.

spend that money to buy some vowels.

g*t * cl**

In all seriousness, if you need to ask this question, you don't need FI. Who am I to say what you need? Well, you asked, and I told.

Do you want to look fast, or do you want to go fast?

just wondering if you can read?

Im really into speed and theres never a day wishing my car was turboed or superchanged dont have money to spend.

im boosting my car before i get wheels too. no reason for new wheels unless you hell bent on looking "cool" and going slow.

you dont have to get volks you know? there are cheaper options just as good w/o paying for THE NAME. anyways, as long as you get a proper tune and dont run too much boost you won't blow your motor, unless you suck at life.

I'll take that one step further...get tires, brakes, suspension, then up the power. Wheels if they improve the performance (generally meaning less mass with equal or better stiffness)...

I guess it really depends on what the end purpose for the car is...drag strip, road racing, autocross, rallying (this is probably the closest to regular street driving IMHO.)

just my $.02

Dam!!!!Those are some expensive wheels. I only paid $2,500.00 for my wheels and tires. Not exactly enuff for a single turbo kit or supercharger. Dammit!!! I need more dinero.

A set of 18" Nismo S-Tune wheels made by Rays Engineering is $2,400. You can get Einkei RPF-1 wheels for more like $1,200 and still have a quality set of rims that are wider & lighter than stock. FI is going to cost 5-10x as much as that to do RIGHT.

im down with the stock look, but not being any were near stock...good way to earn money racing. trick people into racing for money, especially if they dont know what you have under the hood. if i was you, do FI and put some BFG's on your stocks. rims dont add power, they add weight.

some nice wheels always works wonders...just save up for some turbo action later...

if you arent trying to be super quick or anything...dont sweat the FI urge because its going to cost you more than just doing the wheels and tires now.

good luck!

You have to go with rims first. Like my girl says, "Its a diamond ring for your car". Plus every car needs good shoes and to get the stance right before you get all the extra power from FI. I still haven't picked what rims I want. I do know it will be HRE or Work. Decisions decisions...

It costs a lot more to boost a car than it does to purchase a nice set of wheels and tires.....I can't remember the last time I had to tune my wheels.
