Do Not Buy The Z!!
#61
Dang it... I bought a 2003Z Track Model. Let's see.
Problems: Window Motor on Driver's Door: Cost to repair: $0.00 Replace fuel hose thing (recall): Cost to replace: $0.00 Mirror problem: Cost to replace: $0.00 No feathering - don't know what happened there, missed out on that one. Maintenance low cost. Great dealership, very very ready to take of things immediately. Won't have a different car, owned 260Z, 280Z, and now 350Z. Oh where, oh where did I go wrong????
Oh, has 13,456 miles on it, checked the speedometer just for this post. Have a extended 6 year 100,000 warranty on it, keep up maintenance properly. Now I'll bet any car would be a great car if the maintenance is done properly, even a chev. corvair, and yes I had one of them once, that was the rear engine jet in it. If you bought a car with a problem, then of course you inherit the problem. Don't bash the car, it's an excellent vehicle, that's why Z owners buy them.

here OP argue this point...find someone (giving you the benefit of the doubt) with the exact same problems to substatiate your claims of the Z as being a bad car to own. Then we can look at your assesment of yours and our own Zs as being bad cars, other than that seems you got an isolated case ie a lemon or bought it from someone who poorly maintained their car and have no cause to post.

Looks like I should make a trip to the dealership lol
I don't know if my 03 has had any of the recalls done. I have a 03 which I bought used 2 months ago with 26,000 miles on it. Now I have 30,000 miles

I could name 5 - 10 vehicles off the top of my head that are "better built" than the Z is. The truth is, the OP's problems have little or nothing to do with the original owner "****ting on" his car. Many z owners throughout this forum have experienced many/all of the problems the OP has. This does NOT mean the car is a piece of crap. Every car has its problems, and the OP's car is a 2003 which was the first year of a new car. Just some things to think about...

Thats why some people are cleaning out the armatures with toothpicks and contact cleaner and they start working. When mine does fail I'll get some harder brushes that don't throw as much carbon dust out and post the part number for them and where to buy them on here.
Good positive post. Your da man !!!
Thank you for trying to help ....

I'm female and I have this to say.
I did my research on the Z on another forum before purchasing. I found this one later on.
I knew in advance not to buy the '03 because of the TSBs.
Have you tried writing a letter to the owner of the dealer that you took it to?
What about complaining to the BBB?
I hope you are happier with your 2nd car.

i bought my 03 about 2 years ago with 14k. It now has 66k on it its been a pleasure. My trannie did get replaced at liek 45k cause of thrid gear grind but they gave me a cd009 trannie and it seems good so far atleast. I had the fuel hose done. All for free at the dealer. But now recently i do notice some tire feathering, rear axle clicking, And my driver side motor is prolyl going also. But those are all minor things and most can be fixed for free at the dealer. And once done properly shouldnt return except the window motor. Oh yeh and i drive it very hard since i had it

your starter motor will not turn if the little pressure switch under the clutch pedal is sticky(short). i sprayed some WD-40 on the switch sensor last year and my 03 has had no starting issue since.
your rear tires wore out prematurely could be due to the tires you bought. Not all tires are constructed the same and wear the same.
The Zs are relatively well made comparing to tons of similarly priced vehicles.
