damn that's long! first hug the car. then ... i don't know after that ... maybe some other guys can give you better advice than start the car and wait a while for it to just warm up?

I normally, pull the fuse from the fuel pump, and turn the engine over a few times with the starter the get some oil flowing(or do it my turning the crank pulley), before fireing it up.

It would also be wise just to replace the oil first

If you didnt drain the gas, I would suck the tank dry somehow and put some fresh gas, am sure whats in there has gummed up.

Check the brake fluid for excessive moisture from sitting around

Check the tyres, having them stay still for that long in my experience can cause them to mis-shape.

A few routine checks here and there and you should be alright

ouch, first i would be prepared to clean out rat chit. Then

-Pull the air filter, check and replace if needed.

-Tire Pressure (probably low)

-Change oil and filter before you fire it up

-Check radiator fluid to make sure it hasn't gunked up, but i suggest draining and refilling since it hasn't been circulated in so long. Probably some seperation taking place, but it is probably safe enough to make it back home before switching.

-Check belts for corrossion and dry rot. (unlikely)

Other than that you should be good. i would wait till the car fully warms up, and oil pressure levels off before trying the A/C out.

Expect some flat spots on the tires to work out.

Turn the A/c pump on to lube the seals.

Enjoy!

15 months?

First thing: Good whiskey!

But I would recommend most of these things. I'm not sure so much about coolant gumming up, but I know gas will go bad, and your battery will die. Oil change is a great idea too, you can't be too careful with an engine, so I would recommend the little bit of extra work.

Lastly, thanks for serving, I'm glad you are coming back OK. My little brother's best friend just shipped out Tuesday with the marines for his first tour over there, and we're hoping he comes back OK.
