Thats how I go from highway speed to stop sign at the end of the ramp. Rev matching of course. No problems (and no double clutching wtf?)
or you could just brake and save the clutch/syncro wear and transfer it to your brakes which are significantly easier/cheaper to change

but as long as you rev match properly there shouldn't be any unnecessary clutch/syncro wear and wouldn't you also save the brakes as well?

a good rev match reacts as if you were in that lower gear to begin with.

Unless you are double clutching, there is still wear on the synchros, and your downshift revmatch better be perfect, this means no easing out the clutch either, you better be able to dump it without any jerking
