My Nissan Dealer uses a synthetic blend. Including the discount for having it changed there regularly, it costs the same as at the Quick Lube, Jiffy Lube, etc. places. I patronize places that treat me fairly and my dealer has.

Both sizes will fit on the Z, but the long one was made especially for the Z. I don't want some rinky dink Sentra oil filter being put on my car. The reason I specifically request for it is just to remind the tech to put the long filter on my car. Both cost the same.

ya im a tech at nissan and the long filter ends with 9E000... the short filter numbers is 65FOO or 65FOA for the older shorty filters i believe. and we use a synthetic blend for all of our oil changes, supposed to be some pretty good stuff i guess.

You shouldn't be so confident in Nissan's 27pt inspection. After 13k miles I was curious about my air filter - there were a bunch of dead leaves in the air duct and the filter was filthy - Nissan never mentioned anything. Who knows what else they ARE NOT checking..
I get my oil changed at the dealer because my driveway/garage is severely cracked, pitted and uneven.

Nissan's 27pt inspection.
1. Look at car to make sure it's there. Check
2. Kick tires to make sure they are still on the car. Check
3. Push button on keyfob to see if the car still locks/unlocks. Check
4. Open and close doors to makes sure people can get in/out of the car. Check
5. Turn steering wheel side to side to make sure the car steers. Check
6. Turn on engine to make sure the engine still runs. Check
etc...
There's a reason why its free.

I took my 07 in yesterday for it's 1st oil change, which was free being it was the 1st one. Also I mentioned my Z had a bit of a pull to the right and they realigned my front and rear end. It was a great experience and I will take my Z there for all it's oil changes due to the fact that they know the Z and not wanting some slacker mess up my Z at quick lube...

Many dealerships are using recycled oil for routine changes. I asked a Ford service manager I know and he does.So when I took my Z in to have the oil changed at the Nissan dealership I asked the service manger there.They also use recycled oil. They claim it is as good as vigin dino oil.I'm a bit skeptical about that.

my dealership rocks, theyve fixed a bunch of little things for no charge, and i get it washed, vacuumed, and an oil change for about 50 bucks. i had one warranty claim with them too that went flawlessly. ive heard some horror stories from the nissan dealership some 20 miles south of here though... kinda messed up

I have the dealer change the oil. The car has a warranty and this keeps it in place. Quite frankly, the dealer labor rates are pretty much the same as other shops without the Nissan training. Why would you want to go anywhere else? Plus they keep a record of all the maintenance and repairs.

1. Nissan dealer $200 plus tax
2. Near by shop $76 plus tax
3. I ended up doing the install with my buddy...cost..$12 for lunch!

I run full synthetic oil because it's not that much more. I get a ton of "free oil change" coupons to Firestone and local places then use it to upgrade to synthetic. Usually costs around $18 after the "free" coupon. See fatwallet.com and like sites for those type of deals. Firestone will also send out oil change coupons which can also be upgraded. Using the coupon plus the upgrade usually costs about the same as regular oil without the coupon.
