Default rear ended after sitting at a light for 30 seconds *sigh*

So I'm sitting at a light, with this girl that just got back into town today, heading out to the store. We had been at the light, on the front row, for about 30 seconds at a complete stop. BAM! Some girl in a Cavalier rear ends me, guess she didn't see me stop...30 seconds ago!!! She has insurance at least, but damnit, this is the 5th accident in 10 years of driving, and not one of them has been my fault! I am tired of having tainted cars, I've been so careful to avoid idiots so far, but what can you do at a stoplight on the front fu**ing row?!?!?!

%^*%^*^#^#$%&^&^*&*$&#$@#$@#$$

If one idiot posts saying "there goes our insurance rates" I'm going to personally fly out to where you live and kick your a**!

Unhappy

Ouch sorry man I feel your pain, I had some dumb lady take out my front bumper while I had been at a stop. Maybe this is you chance to get some after market body parts? Good luck with it and hang in there!

This happened to me in my Maxima, but get this... In Delaware they dont need to have full insurance so I ended up footing the bill personally.Talk about getting screwed!! I feel for ya though.

That's why I have uninsurred driver insurance. In this age of carelessness and stupidity I wouldn't brave the roads without it.

Default Dude, sorry

That sucks man, Austin drivers are the worst sometimes. Hopefully it isn't too bad and your SB beauty will be back looking good in no time.

Are you still planning on meeting on Thursday?

Of course on the Thursday meet. I'm sure it won't go into the shop until next week, still have to figure out where I want to take it, and do all that claim nonsense.

Ares, I'll take a pic.

As for aftermarket stuff, not for me. The only part after looking at lots of body kits from people's posts I would consider, would be a front bumper. On the superblack especially, I keep feeling like the front looks a little to "cute" for my liking, so if it ever gets damaged I might consider something there. I love the back of the car though.

Ouch, Rob, I'm sorry. Why can't these morons pay attention at stop lights??? Thank goodness she at least has insurance, and I hope everything works out quickly.

And thanks for driving up my insurance rates. LOL (I just HAD to.)

Oooh that hurts. I bet you were careful where you parked the Z so that you wouldn't get a minor ding in the door pannel, and now this happens. Hope you're not off the road too long - Z withdrawral symptoms could lead to irrational behaviour, like buying a sensible 4 door kiddymobile (j/k)

Thanks Christi, et al.

You know KY350, it's funny you mention that last line. I was talking to a co-worker at work last night about this. I am pretty obsessive compulsive (neat freak, perfectionist). I was realizing that maybe I should/can't ever own a nice car. I love my car so much, but at the same time, because of my obsessiveness I know that once this is fixed I'm going to think about it all the time. Even if it looks perfect, in the back of my head I will know it is not perfect. It's hard for non obsessive compulsives to understand, I wish I could just turn it off, but it doesn't work like that. I am not going to go sell my Z, but it made me think about it. This is a big reason why I got rid of my Eclipse, it had been in two not-at-fault accidents and all I heard were creaks and saw imperfections. It made me hate that car, I just hope this doesn't happen to my Z.

It's frustrating being a perfectionist

Rob you're scarring me. I have the same obsessiveness about my car, and I check it for scratches, that means once around the car, before getting into the drivers seat. Must stop doing that (perhaps therapy is called for). Now I dont believe in astrology, but I'll bet you were born in Sep or at the very least are a Virgo.

Sorry to hear about your car, Rob.

For anyone who has ever ridden a motorcycle, you constantly have to be aware of every car around you. There's been more than one rider killed b/c some bozo ran over them at a stoplight.

Hope you get if fixed back close to perfect. As you get older you'll realize that your car is only a car. "Only a car?" Did I say that...........

being rear ended after being stopped at a light for 30 seconds or more has happened to me no less than 3 times. Once in my Integra and twice in my Accord. The cars just never seemed the same afterwards so I feel your pain.

I thought I would be the same way, but I went out, I bought a stock bumper, I got it painted, and I got a new combo light. I installed it all myself, and I saw that there was nothing but styrofoam and lexan plastic there, nothing to really break unless it was a very very serious hit. as long as the damage is contained to the rear bumper, and didnt hit the hatch, or qaurter panels, just look at it as an opportunity to get rid of the orange peel in atleast 1 area of your car.

da_cheif: you keep a spare Z, too? Why don't more people do this?

Sorry to hear about the accident, bro. I wonder what her excuse was: cell phone? changing the radio station? Either way, that's the lamest way to ruin someone else's day... happened to my gf not long ago in her Passat. Ah well.... I guess that's why they're called "accidents."

Rob, sorry to hear about your Z. You just described almost the identical situation I was in. Sitting at a stop light for about a minute...then *BAM* The idiot behind me slams into the rear of my Z. Thankfully he was insured (still wrestling with his insurance company) and the damage was minimal, but my car was brand new, less than 900 miles on the car. Some people should not be licensed to drive a motor vehicle.

I feel your pain, brother. The same happened to me in Houston, except the idiot put his Suburban in *reverse* and hit my completely stopped car! These people have licenses!! Anyways, I got the car fixed last week and should be at the meet tomorrow. Here is a picture of the damage.
