Dayum! That REALLY makes me cringe since you've got the same car I do. Your experience is just further proof that someone needs to make stricter laws when it comes to passing these morons on their driving test.

Sorry to hear about your unfortunate incedent. Hopefully all will be fixed and she will be as good as new shortly.

Even if it looks perfect, in the back of my head I will know it is not perfect. It's hard for non obsessive compulsives to understand, I wish I could just turn it off, but it doesn't work like that.
It's frustrating being a perfectionist
Sorry to hear about this Rob. And I KNOW what you mean about being O-C - I am too (I even had to get a plate OBZESSD). That's why I never had a nice new car before this (just drove my parents' 83 Volvo, my hubby's Prelude, and a new Highlander that was meant to be roughed up a bit).

B/c I knew I would go crazy and park miles away from other cars and ... well, you know.

I hope your Z will be okay and that there will be no creaks...

I check it for scratches, that means once around the car, before getting into the drivers seat. Must stop doing that (perhaps therapy is called for). Now I dont believe in astrology, but I'll bet you were born in Sep or at the very least are a Virgo.

KY I do the exact same thing. Always. Lean down and make sure there are absolutely no dings or scratches for both doors before getting in.

I think there are obsessives from all signs, but I WAS born in September (Libra).

I do the same walkaround. January 4th, I always forget my sign.

For anyone who has ever ridden a motorcycle, you constantly have to be aware of every car around you. There's been more than one rider killed b/c some bozo ran over them at a stoplight.

Hope you get if fixed back close to perfect. As you get older you'll realize that your car is only a car. "Only a car?" Did I say that...........

Yeah Wayne, I've had 3 bikes. I stopped riding in Austin because of the drivers here

I'm jealous Obsessive compusive girls rock, hah. I think I am going to have to end up with someone with OCD if I am ever going to be happy. My last girlfriend was a slob, ugh, bad match. At the very least someone with some OC tendencies.

Thanks Iris, keep that brick out of harms way!

I was afraid of the same thing after my mishap on ice back in February. However a couple of weeks after I got my Z back from the shop that "nagging" thought had disappeared.

Your damage sounds really minor, and so long as there isn't any frame damage you'll never know the difference.

Rob... I feel your pain... and hope that it is therapeutic to know that ---

1/ this type of accident happens to a lot of people -- including me.

2/ there are idiots all over the world including Japan.

Three weeks ago.. going to work early Monday morning and was first in line at a stop light. The stop light was located at an intersection after coming down a long, straight road.

Parked behing me was a girl in an Opel. Well, this idiot in the car behind her (a guy) fell asleep while coming down the hill and woke up --- too late ---- and rear-ended the Opel. Luckily, the Opel was fully stopped and she had her foot on the brake -- but the impact of the third car pushed her car into my rear bumper. Some scrapes and a few dents.

Nissan fixed it up perfectly... swapped the whole rear bumper with a new one.

It takes some time to get over that awful...bang !!! sound. Still find that I am now looking in my rear view mirror more than I did before.

Sorry this caught my eye...here all these "Twisty only" oriented people had me believing Japan just had curved roads all over. It appears they have a least one straight road.

I could have killed my fiancee today!!! I have my Z in my garage, go to get in it and see a deep D I N G on the panel behind my driver door. Needless to say I freaked out since I have had it 9 days. Seems that he opened the door to his caddy and it pressed into the side of the car. What really pissed me off was the fact that he wouldn't admit it. My kids had to line up the ding with his heavy a-- door and it matched! Needless to say, I am so sad today My first ding and it was by family.....

He drives a Caddy and you drive a 350z? You need to help him shop for his next car! That's a real shame, I can't believe he won't fess up! I take it he's not a car person huh?

That lying SOB! What a jerk! If you want to talk it over a coffee, let me know ... I think you should leave him ...

Seriously, sorry to hear your story. Don't be too pissed, it happens. It's a car after all, and cars are prone to dings and scratches. In a couple of days, you'll forget all about it.

Enjoy your Z

So how do insurance claims work for when the other persons insurance is covering it again? The past two accidents I had their insurance just paid the body shop directly. Is there a way to just get a check? Seems like I just got a check when I got rear ended by this girl in high school. They mailed me an estimate of $745 for the repairs. Seems like that should more than cover it. Anyone else had a new rear bumper painted and installed and know the cost?

Would be nice to make a few dollars off this, but if you all think $750 is borderline what it will cost, could cost more, I won't waste my time with the issue.

I was rear ended and had my bumper cap replaced on my car the cost was $1465. The lights in the bumper both had the mounting tabs broken off.
Rear bumper cap unpainted $245
lights in bumper $135 each
The paint is expensive on the silverstone cars for good brand(PPG)
I think they are guessing about 1/2 the real price, get another estimate.

wow. Well, I just have to take it to a place and they will call the estimator and have him come out, or authorize if he agrees with their need for more money. Mine was very minor, no damage to the blinkers, etc. We'll see when they take it apart.
