Default Misstaking 6th gear with reverse?

Hello, I am new to this forum but I have ridden in a 350Z and I JUST LOVE THAT CAR!!! I have a silly (maybe) question though. Do you guys put in Reverse if you try to shift fast from 5th to 6th?

It's physically impossible to do, even if you tried. You'd hear a grinding sound but the gear would not engage.

The potentially dangerous downshifts are 6th to 5th and 5th to 4th.

+1 it's not possible. In order to go into reverse you have to push the stick down and engage the gear to your lower far right.

I just play it safe and never take it out of first gear.

You can accidently shift from 6th to 3rd. It's called downshifting.

6th to 5th?

Mistaking 1st for 3rd or 2nd for 4th is "potentially dangerous".

He's talking about 6th to 5th meaning messing up and putting it in 3rd

and 5th to 4th meaning putting it in 2nd...get it?

Thank you. Should have made my post clearer but that's exactly what I
meant.

I don't think you can do 4th to 1st, it's pretty hard to downshift into first unless you're going very slow...

yeah its impossible. I remember when i first got my car i didnt push down far enough and id let the clutch out a little and it would try to roll forward. Took me about 3 times to realize i was in 6th lol. Yeah those shifts are a little dangerous just be careful and dont go over too far.

the 6th gear is an overdrive gear, i don't use it around town under 50mph. Shift to 6th gear to cruise on the highway above 65mph.

6th gear is good for cruising at ~35mph and up.

Do you guys put in Reverse if you try to shift fast from 5th to 6th?
Even if you pressed down on the shifter while shifting into 6th it still wouldn't hit reverse.... you have to be in neutral, press down, move over and down into 6th to hit reverse.... it's not physically possible to do it on accident unless you are the most retarded driver to ever live....

yeah, i'm always in 6th gear. The only thing is some people who have exhaust, it will be very boomy at such a low rpm so they can't use 6th gear at low speeds. I'm amazed at the tq this car has still accelerating around town in such a high gear.

On my '04 it's actually stated in the owners manual at 33mph for 5th-6th as the shift point for best economy..... with my 17's it may even be a mph lower than that because the diameter on the 17's is slightly smaller...
