The heel-toe technique is simply the merging of two required action. Slowing the car down and getting on the right gear for corner exit.
now that i think of it when i was blasting through mountain roads, i would typically slow down coming into the turn and rev-match/shift entering the turn so by the apex id be speeding out, but that made me enter too slow, dont get me wrong i was hitting turns fast but could be faster with this method.

oh and i find it impossible on my z with the factory aluminum pedals, the gas pedal isnt long enough so i have to use the sides of my feet mainly.

I was just wondering if anyone else thinks its difficult to heal toe shift in your z. I can do it in most other cars but for some reason in my Z the brake and gas pedal are just not not positioned well. any opinions
I do it every day with ease. Practice the mechanics of it while sitting still. Once you train your foot on what it needs to do/where it needs to go, it's really not hard or any different from any other car.

It makes reaching the pedal easy.

Ultimate Pedals rock.

I installed Rennline pedals in my 987. Throttle extensions are available:

Seems to me like you have it. Now it's just practice, practice, and more practice.

Just curious, could would I have a tab welded on to the left side of the gas pedal. Instead of spending a $100 on a new set of pedals, I have a guy at work who is a a awesome welder.

Heel toe shifting is easier in my Z than in my C6. I don't think the Z is bad at all in terms of ease of heel toe shifting.

You wouldn't want to weld to it. You might have someone punch out some Sheet SS in the shape you want, maybe add in some rubber ***** or something after drilling it out. Then you would install by drilling through the factory pedal and bolt it with nyloc's on the back side. You could use a bracket system to install it but, at the track a bolt through is always a better idea. Safety first, function second, looks last.

Yep, same here. I have to use the modified heel-toe-side of foot method myself.

at first i thought it was very difficult coming from a bmw pedal placement. Also at first i would get my shoes caught in the pedals. so i started wearing smaller shoes and i started to get used to the pedal placement. id advise wearing smaller or slimmer shoes at first to get used to the pedal placement.

It was hard at first but if you use the left side of your foot for the brake and the right side of it for the gas its easier than using your heel and your toe. Its more like big toe little toe-ing.

Terrasmak said (a year ago!) "I took a tip from Randy Pobst .. What he did .. was bend the throttle pedal twords the brake pedal a little. So mine is bent over about 1/2 inch , and makes it so much easier to heal toe."
Question -- I'd like to do this , but how do you bend the brake pedal? Do you bend the vertical attachment rod? If so, where and how? I don't see how to bend/rotate the actual pedal. Thanks.

+1. Having long legs makes it extremely tough to do it.
