How loud is the gear shifting sound in manuals supposed to be?
THis is my first manual and I know its normal to be able to hear the car while shifting gears, but i've noticed since the day i bought it home that this shifting "click click" metal sound is pretty loud. I can hear it pretty well when the windows are up and the music is off. Is it supposed to be that loud or could something possibly be wrong?? This is my first manual so I just wanted to make sure.
As long as it's shifting OK and not scraping while going into gear or popping out of gear I'm sure it's fine. If you're not sure, you can let someone with more experience try it out or ride with you - or let Nissan look at it.....
Since this is your first stick shift, make sure you have the clutch pedal "in" fully when shifting gears and don't ride with your foot on the pedal, which could depress it slightly and cause extra wear. Try not to have the pedal in between full out or full in for very long b/c this is when it wears.
Drive safe.
