Auto shouldnt be on sports cars unless its like dsg or smg type auto. And even then its still auto in my book no clutch then its auto
That's ok, I rather let people choose an automatic and keep the $20k in my pocket... If you want an exclusive car go buy a used Ferrari or Lambo...
Nissan figured out that if enough models didn't sell, they would have to stop producing them. Thank all the AT drivers, that otherwise wouldn't have purchased a Z, for us to still have the option of buying a Z.
My bet is that most these pro-MT posts are by people that recently learned to drive a manual and now want to brag about how cool they are, not for the car, but for their new-found ability. Next step will be their expertise on "double-clutching" and why the extra weight of syncros slow the car down.

Looks like you'll need to start your own car company and only make manual transmission cars... Should be fun for the first 6 months before you go bankrupt...
wow so many responses lol. Dam you guys take this stuff seriously hahah. Yeh to the guy said mt trannies break early models did. But i got a cd009 and so far so good. And yeh even if the trannies broke once every 2 years i would still drive it in manual haha. And of course not all the things i said apply to all auto drivers just the majority. And the guys who drive the auto's gettin so mad about the post are just mad cause they dont have the manual. And prolly got spanked by one haha. Besides the gearing on the 6speed is what makes teh 350z pull so hard. And i have drove my freinds auto several times. And to be honest once it hit 3rd gear it felt very sluggish to me. I felt a dramatic difference. And down shifting ??? When i want to drop a gear i dont want to wait 3 seconds before it goes to a lower gear lol. Auto takes like 3 seconds to rev match. Thing shifts so slow you got to hit it at like 6200 to get it to shift at 6600. But everyones different. But im saying if you had a 06 auto z with exhaust test pipes and spacer and you lost to a 03 touring 6spd bone stock wouldnt you be pissed. My freind sure was and i had to rub it in like i told you to get the manual haha

I had an s2k for four years. Can't see that car with an a/t. The engine in the Z is more suited to have either. I think it would still be a fun car with an auto. It's amazing how much play this topic gets on a weekly basis.

gawd this site beats the AT vs. MT to the ground.....personally i would love to see some nice clean Auto Z owners out there....bc from the outside the Z is still a Z correct?
ohhh and ehh i wouldnt call a ferrari F1 style paddle shifting a automatic lol..i mean its still an "auto" but far far more advanced than our autos haha IMO

I wonder:
1) How many AT owners know how to drive MT but got an AT anyway (because if that were me, I'd be really pissed/annoyed at recurrent threads like this).
2) How many AT owners actually don't know how to drive MT and simply had to get an AT because there wasn't any other way to own a Z (because if that were me...well...I'd be really pissed/annoyed at recurrent threads like this).
The knowledge of driving stick doesn't necessarily make one "better" or "more of an enthusiast" or "more hard core". But it is some skill that one might possess that another does not. So what, though.

But I vowed that I would learn how to drive stick so that I could come to own any car in the future, regardless of transmission. The car's transmission would no longer be a barrier to ownership.
Fastforward 17 years, and the new E92 BMW M3 is here - manual only (for now anyway...the DSG-type will be out later). But BMW's overall philosophy seems to have shifted. Now it's more like "Well...ok, we'll make a manual transmission for you dumb Americans because you all cried like babies when the M5/M6 came available only in SMG's. Can't you see the SMG's are faster?"
