+1 here too... if my Z was only available 6MT or was my garage queen, I would have owned her with the 6MT. However, the 5AT is available and my Z is my daily driver so I am more than happy with my decision to get my 5AT...

I'll be honest and say I do agree that the Z should be available in MT only. I see so many soccer moms driving Zs just because they think it's a "cute" car. I always look over everytime I pass or get passed by a Z, and if it's from one of these ladies they never look over and acknowledge me. I get more looks from the Subys, Evos, and S2k drivers than Z owners.

no more young kids out of high school having one for a graduation present because parents think having an auto is less dangerous or something...
I disagree w/ that.. im of your hated 17 year old Z drivers but im not ur TYPICAL 17 year old Z driver lmao.. mines manual and i agree with this thread but dont think all ur highschool Z drivers dont know how to drive/ treat their car :-D

I wish the Z was only offered with no floor and we had to use our legs to power the car like the Flintstones.

Besides the gearing on the 6speed is what makes teh 350z pull so hard. And i have drove my freinds auto several times. And to be honest once it hit 3rd gear it felt very sluggish to me. I felt a dramatic difference. And down shifting ??? When i want to drop a gear i dont want to wait 3 seconds before it goes to a lower gear lol. Auto takes like 3 seconds to rev match. Thing shifts so slow you got to hit it at like 6200 to get it to shift at 6600. But everyones different. But im saying if you had a 06 auto z with exhaust test pipes and spacer and you lost to a 03 touring 6spd bone stock wouldnt you be pissed. My freind sure was and i had to rub it in like i told you to get the manual haha
Man, I really hate ignorant mindsets like this. First off, I do drive an AT, but I wouldn't care one way or the other - its still a Z, and MT is most definitely not faster - they are the same car. I'd own it in either tranny,

3 seconds to shift? Seriously, how ignorant can you get? The Z's AT is very smart and quick. It sometimes may feel like its delayed when you tell it to shift, but the actual shift happens about twice as fast as a professional driver could. And judging by your posts, you probably haven't even been driving very long anyway, the AT probably shifts 4x as fast as you.

Not gonna comment on the "modded AT" vs "stock MT" part...

Regardless both MT and AT have their advantages and disadvantages, and everyone has a reason for choosing the tranny they went with. Knocking the other one in the same exact car, once again, is IGNORANT and stupid.

Not meaning to be a dick but IIRC arent the MT Z's GENERALLY quicker than the AT.

In regards to what, dragstrip or road course? Based on the available data posted in the drag section of this website, it would initially appear so, however, without knowing the ratio of the numbers of active MT/AT racers, the times posted are inconclusive.

By nature, an automatic transmission is more suited and efficient for drag racing than MT's and for the road course, it's reversed for the most part.

But to listen to some of the retards who post here, one would believe an AT 350Z is a 20 second car. Funny thing is, none of those poster's in this thread have a stock time recorded here that beats the fastest stock '03 AT 1/4 time of ~13.6 @ ~101mph.

So to answer your question... Who knows.

Which is why I answered that based on available information, one cannot accurately make that claim.

truly pathetic. as for your "only early models" having this problem comment, i suggest you do a search on how many 2006+ models are having the same exact problems as before. and no one is getting mad, it is just when unneducated individuals come in and make biased uneducated comments, it gets old

dam you guys get pissed off way to easily lol. Doesnt make me a retard u retard my opinion so i dont know wut to tell you. The is alot slower and any manual driver go drive a auto and come back here and post. And to the guy with the auto talkin smack about taking me 4 seconds to ****. I could prolly give my freinds auto a 1 car lead and still even out or pull a lil on it. The z is made to be 6 speed. Auto is still fast and all you have to do is mash the gas so thats its up side i gas. But a good manual drive will always own the auto easily.

I'll consider what everyone else thinks next time I buy a vehicle. Because really, isn't that what it's all about?
